Features and benefits of using chlorinated rubber paints:

  •   Good resistance to heat and water.
  •   For interior and exterior use.
  •   Good resistance to chemicals – ideal for factories and industry.
  •   Good resistance to urine, making this an ideal coating for many agricultural environments.
  •   Easy to maintain.
  •   Chlorinated rubber paints and coatings can last for years to come.

Coating a Swimming Pool

Due to their water immersion properties and resistance to chemicals, chlorinated rubber paint can be ideal for coating swimming pools. An ideal coating for swimming pools is chlorinated rubber paint. For this, we recommend Bradite Chlorinated Rubber paint. To demonstrate why this is the case, we have broken down the features of the Bradite coating and translated them into benefits that you can directly relate to.

Problem Feature Benefit
The only time to perform any kind of maintenance is during out-of-season. Can be used at low temperatures, even down to 0°C. Outdoor pools can be coated with rubber paint out-of-season.
Mild pollutants are likely to find their way into the water, including users urinating in the pool, causing potential damage to coating. Highly resistant to oils, urine and chemicals. A tough, long-lasting coating that will stand up to high traffic where it is impossible to regulate pollutants.
We are accredited with ISO 9001:2008. We need to keep the whole quality management chain continuous. Manufactured under the auspices of an ISO 9001:2008 quality management system. Peace of mind of a quality management system has been used; particularly useful if you need to keep the same ISO standard throughout the project.
For us to be competitive we are accredited with an ISO 14001:2004. Part of our management of this to have our suppliers comply with this where appropriate. This will be a deal-clincher for us. Manufactured under the auspices of an ISO 14001:2004 environmental management systems. The chain of ISO 14001:2004 can be continued when using this rubberised paint.
We have lots of maintenance to do and need to ensure we don’t spend too long on each job. Dries in as little as 30 minutes* Project managers need not worry too much about the length of time this rubber paint takes to dry, and the whole project can be planned efficiently.

*Actual time may vary dependent of conditions, including surface and environmental conditions. More time is needed to fully-cure the coating. Consult the manufacturer’s technical documentation for more details or telephone Rawlins Paints’ technical team on 0113 245 5450.

Road Markings & Car Parks

Choosing the right road marking paint means choosing a paint coating which is highly durable and resistant to a multitude of pollutants. For example, roads take a constant barrage of vehicles of all shapes, sizes and uses; cars, motorcycles, lorries, tractors, buses and even a steady use of bicycles all put stresses on the road surface.

Ennis-Flint Cataphos Chlorinated Rubber (Premium), is a paint ideal for painting lines on concrete and asphalt surfaces, as it is resistant to dirt, grease, oil and chemicals.

Why is this paint ideal for road markings?

Feature Benefit to You
Highly durable and manufactured to a demanding specification Peace of mind that product quality is of a suitably high standard to be fit for purpose and to perform will under continued use.
Easy to apply – single coat application Allows you to keep road closures and disruption to a minimum and get on with the job in a single coat.
Excellent line definition Create well-defined lines that will be easily seen and not confuse road users. Ideal for environments that require good aesthetics, for example in office car parks and professional environments.
Can be used in conjunction with glass beads for improved reflectivity Is the road surface going to be used in a dark environment? If so, a glass bead additive will aid in reflecting vehicle or overhead headlights.

Ideal for car parks, general road markings and line markings on any concrete or asphalt surface.

Alternatively, those seeking an anti-skit traffic chlorinated rubber paint can have a look at Axalta Highway Anti-Skid Traffic Paint, a paint that offers great anti-skid properties.

Factories & Industry

Chlorinated rubber paints can be used in industrial environments, such as:

Industrial and Factory Flooring Bradite Floor Finish is a great coating of choice here.
Warehouse Line Marking Warehouses, especially large ones will have much forklift traffic. For this traffic to be safe for everyone, mapping out road markings within the warehouse is very useful and helps establish a safe working environment ensuring everyone knows the path forklifts will be operating, whilst also showing drivers the correct and safe path to take. We’d recommend Hydron Nu-Base Chlorinated Rubber Line Paint for this job. It’s an ideal road/line marking paint available in yellow and white. May also be used to paint parking bays.

Available in 4 sizes, this Teamac chlorinated rubber coating is designed for and small and large jobs alike.Teamac Metaclor Underwater CR Primer is another great solution for agricultural environments. This metallic grey finish can be used to coat steel and wood that offers good resistance and protection above and below the waterline.

Useful Hints & Tips

  • At Rawlins Paints, we continue our promise to help trade professionals with their projects. Not only do we provide paint solutions and technical advice over the telephone (0113 245 5450), we also run our own blog, which is updated with new articles, how-to’s and general information on the world of paints. To accompany this blog post, you may find it useful to read more about how to paint a swimming pool, and learn more about waterproof paints, of which chlorinated rubber paint falls into this category.
  • Chlorinated rubber paint is a specialised coating that is highly common as swimming pool coating. It is advised that the coating should be applied by an experienced professional, as there are many pitfalls in applying rubber paint in swimming pools; common mistakes are not having due diligence in washing the pool and making certain the substrate is free of debris, dirt, oils and chalk, and ensuring the pool is completely dry before application. If in doubt, hire a professional. If you are a professional, you may consider planning to ensure every aspect of the job is done to spec, to give the best protection and benefits the coating can offer.
  • To allow the coating to dry evenly and to avoid bubbling the wet paint, ensure the surface is coated evenly.
