Good afternoon, I’m undertaking a self build barn conversion which has exposed steel RSJ’s. My building control drawings state the steels need to be painted with intumescent paint to provide 30 minutes fire protection and also states that three coats are required. The steels have been blasted and primed so I’d to ask the best way to achieve this.
Thank you for your enquiry, in order for us to be able to advise, please provide us with as much of the following information as possible;
- Each steel section dimension (i.e. 254x146x37 UB)
- Quantity and length of each section (or overall meterage for each section)
- Orientation (horizontal or vertical)
- Number of sides to be painted (all sides, 3 sides, 1 flange, etc.)
- Environment (internal, external, car park, chemical exposure, etc.)
- Application on site or in shop
