Substrate and Preparation
Suitable for all commonly used timber species. Timber moisture content should be between 12 and 16%. On Accoya this range should be 4-8%. The substrate must be clean, dry and free from dust, dirt, grease, silicone and wax. Refer to the appropriate Anker Stuy application sheet for other system products such as topcoats and end grain sealers.
Application
Conditions – Ambient temperature and substrate temperature 15 - 30⁰C.
Equipment – Product is dispensed from a hand squeezed bottle. The only tool that may be required is a plastic levelling tool or palette knife.
Procedure – Cut off the tip of the lid and squeeze from the bottle. Cut the lid in the place that is suitable for the width of the joint. Fill the joint area with the material, supplying sufficient pressure to the sides of the joint so that there is immediate adhesion. Avoid applying excess material; level the applied filler with a suitable tool. Apply to primed surfaces such as v-grooves or small break joints and other small gaps to provide moisture protection at joints. Clean off before material dries with a solution of detergent and water.
Usage - Approximately 5 ml/running metre for a 2 x 2 mm fillet.
Drying – 30-60 minutes 2 hours for a 2 x 2mm fillet at 23°C and a relative humidity of 50%. When applying more sealant drying times will be greatly extended. The product is dry once it has turned translucent from the original milky colour.
Drying times are greatly affected by the amount of product applied and can also be greatly reduced if drying conditions are warmer and less humid. Lower temperatures, poor air exchange and high humidity will delay drying. It is important to ensure drying is complete before overcoating. If in any doubt refer to our technical department for details.
Special Information
If coatings are applied too soon before the sealer is dry there will be shrinkage upon drying and the coating film may crack. Follow the drying instructions above diligently to avoid such issues. This product should not be used as a filler for small damages on the face of joinery sections - instead, use Ankolux Woodfiller.
