Description
Two-Pack Zinc-Rich Epoxy Primer
This high-performance zinc-rich epoxy primer provides superior anti-corrosive protection for steel and metallic surfaces. Formulated as a two-pack system, it delivers exceptional adhesion, durability, and resistance to challenging environmental conditions. Its quick-drying properties allow for efficient overcoating without aeration issues, making it ideal for time-sensitive applications.
Key Applications and Compatibility
Designed for use on steel and other compatible metal substrates, this primer is well-suited to industrial and marine environments requiring robust corrosion protection. It is particularly effective in protecting structures exposed to high moisture or corrosive elements. Ensure all surfaces are dry and free from contaminants before application.
Do not use pre-primers or rust conversion coatings before applying this product, as this may compromise adhesion and performance. Suitable for use with HMG-approved thinners and hardeners to achieve the desired finish.
Application Guidelines
This primer can be applied using a brush, conventional spray gun, pressure pot, or airless sprayer. For optimal results, mix the base and hardener in a 6:1 ratio. Stir thoroughly before application and filter the mixture to remove impurities. Apply one to two full coats, allowing a 15-minute flash-off time between coats. The recommended film thickness is 55 microns dry (achieved with a 100-micron wet coat).
Refer to the technical data sheet for specific equipment settings and drying times. Always ensure adequate ventilation during application and drying.
Limitations and Recommendations
Avoid application on surfaces not prepared according to HMG’s guidelines. Do not expose the primer to extreme conditions during drying. Use compatible HMG cleaning products to prepare substrates and remove contaminants effectively. For additional corrosion resistance, pair this primer with a compatible topcoat.
