Teamac Suregrip Deck Paint
A premium-grade, modified alkyd paint that delivers outstanding performance in creating a safe, slip-resistant surface. It is ideal for use in areas where safety is paramount, such as walkways, ramps, and industrial flooring. The paint is easy to apply using a brush or roller and dries to a durable, aggregated finish that enhances traction, even in wet conditions.
Application and Usage
The coating can be applied to a wide range of surfaces including wood, metal, concrete, and GRP, making it versatile for various environments. Before application, ensure that all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from contaminants. For the best results, prime the surface with the appropriate primer, such as Teamac Wood Primer for wood or Teamac Zinc Phosphate Metal Primer for ferrous metals.
- Application Method: Apply using a brush or short to medium pile roller.
- Drying Time: Touch dry in 6 hours, hard dry in 24 hours at 20°C. Full hardness is achieved in 5-7 days.
- Overcoating Time: Minimum 16 hours, ideally overnight.
- Do not thin the product. Stir thoroughly before use, avoiding mechanical agitation.
- Ensure adequate ventilation during application and drying.
Restrictions and Limitations
While this coating is highly effective in enhancing safety, it should not be used in environments with high humidity during application, as this can adversely affect drying and performance. Additionally, do not apply in temperatures below 10°C or above 25°C. Avoid using on surfaces exposed to strong chemicals or continuous immersion in water. Always follow the recommended surface preparation and application guidelines to ensure optimal performance.
For surfaces that require a smoother finish, consider using Teamac Deck Paint as a preceding coat. For additional protection against corrosion on metal surfaces, use Teamac Zinc Phosphate Metal Primer before applying this coating.

Questions
Question about the product
Andy on 2024-06-10 11:09:11 | Question:
Hi there How mamy coats are recommended for this product. Would a prior, and or an after coat, or both, of teamac gloss be recommended. Finally what type of roller should be used to apply this product.??? I look forward to your reply, thank you |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the surface is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the techncial datasheet, if applying to a sound, existing coating, abrade the coating before applying 2 coats of Teamac Suregrip Deck Paint. If painting bare wood, Teamac Penetrating Wood Primer is recommended as the Primer coat, Teamac QD Zinc Phosphate Metal Primer for ferrous metal substrates and Teamac Deck Paint on GRP decks as the Priming coats prior to two coats of this product. Short/Medium roller or brush application is recommended to achieve the desired finish.
spencer Gransby on 2023-12-25 01:49:48 | Question:
Hi, I want to coat two different surfaces with anti-slip paint, but would preferably use just one paint. I am painting some galvanised stairs and some old sleepers used as edging on a drive. is there just one paint I could use for this please? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
No, this isn't something we could recommend. Assuming the sleepers are bare concrete sleepers that are subject to only foot traffic, we'd recommend applying Coo-Var Acid Etch to prepare and clean the concrete, rinsing away with clean freshwater and allowed to dry fully. You will need to then Prime the concrete with a 10% thinned coat of Coo-Var Floor Paint, thinned with the use of Teamac Thinner 14, before 2 full coats of Coo-Var Suregrip Anti-Slip Floor Paint to finish, allowing a minimum 24 hours after coating to walk-on, and fully cured within 5-7 working days. The galvanised steel should be prepared as detailed in the application instructions, and T-Washed with the use of Teamac Mordant Solution, primed with Teamac Zinc Phosphate Primer followed by 2 finishing coats of Coo-Var Suregrip Anti-Slip Floor Paint.
Jane Antoni on 2023-02-25 14:32:10 | Question:
Hi, we want to use this on the deck of our fibreglass boat. Is this a suitable product. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the fibreglass is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet this product can be used. The area must be thoroughly sanded prior to application.
Hani on 2022-08-06 19:27:41 | Question:
Hi there, I m looking to use this paint for my home decaking . Is this suitable, please ? Is it more durable than standard decking paint ? Do i need to do any special preparation please ? Many thanks. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Unfortunately no, but assuming a clear anti-slip coating is suitable, the timber decking is bare, clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet we can recommend Coo-Var Suredeck Anti Slip Decking Protector
Sally on 2021-09-09 17:39:46 | Question:
Hi, would this be suitable for stone steps in a cellar, the steps are very slippery and never seem to fully dry out? if this is not suitable, could you recommend something? Many Thanks |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Thank you for the enquiry, we have emailed you directly for more information.
Mathew Harker on 2021-08-18 14:14:28 | Question:
Do you have a product suitable for decking round the edge of an internal hot tub/hydro pool, that's both protective and slip resistant? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the decking is timber, it is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet we can recommend Smartkote Safekote. This is a barefoot friendly anti-slip paint. The first coat should be diluted 10% with Xylene.
carolyne on 2019-11-21 11:33:58 | Question:
Would this be suitable for the floors in the back of vans used as mobile workshops - just concerned about the amount of heat that can build up in the van during sunny days. Thanks. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
As a more durable product that would be much easier to clean we would recommend Smartkote Protectakote UVR which can be applied on to a range of surfaces - some surfaces will need priming though prior to application.
Katherine Heath on 2019-03-23 14:29:00 | Question:
Ho, do you do samples? We are struggling to get the colour grey we want so would like a small sample first. Thanks Katherine |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Samples aren't available of this product but we do have a very good colour card for this product which shows the colours and finish of the product very well. If you'd like to provide an address we can post this to you.
Stuart on 2018-06-24 08:43:59 | Question:
Will this be ok to use on garden decking |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Pre-tanalised decking will eventually loose adhesion when painted, however if you wish to apply Teamac Suregrip Deck Paint, Jet wash the decking, allow to thoroughly dry and prime with Teamac Wood Primer. Finish with 2 - 3 coats of Teamac Suregrip Deck Paint.
Rita on 2017-08-01 21:00:07 | Question:
It might sound a dull question do u think this will be ok to paint a wooden ladder in a above ground swimming pool |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Teamac Suregrip Deck Paint has a very coarse anti-slip texture and wouldn't be suitable for bare feet or submersion in water. If the ladder is out of water and not subject to bare feet it would be fine.
Anna on 2017-01-26 11:59:46 | Question:
Is this available in more colours? Can the aggregate be added to any of the Teamac marine gloss topcoats? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Teamac Suregrip Deck Paint is not available in any other colours than the ones listed on our website. You could use Anti-Slip Aggregates in other smooth floor paints available in a wider colour range, or you could over paint Teamac Suregrip Deck Paint with a smooth floor paint once applied to change the appearance.
Craig Daniels on 2016-03-15 14:39:06 | Question:
Can I apply the Teamac sure grip with a spray gun? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
No, it is for brush and roller application only. The product has a pre-mixed aggregate in the paint and this will prevent it from being successfully sprayed.
