• Elasticity and Movement Capability: Sikaflex-415 Universal can accommodate movement up to ±25%, adhering to ISO 9047 standards. This feature ensures that it can handle the natural expansion and contraction of building materials without compromising the integrity of the seal.

• Chemical Resistance: The product is highly resistant to water, sea water, dilute alkalis, and cement slurry, making it suitable for use in environments where these substances are present. However, it is important to note that Sikaflex-415 Universal is not resistant to alcohols, organic solvents, concentrated alkalis, acids, hydrocarbons, or fuels. Care should be taken to avoid exposure to these substances.

Important Considerations:

• Substrate Preparation: Proper preparation of the substrate is crucial for achieving optimal adhesion. For certain substrates like aluminium, stainless steel, and concrete, specific primers or activators may be required to enhance adhesion.

• Application Restrictions: Sikaflex-415 Universal should not be used on bituminous, natural rubber, or EPDM rubber substrates due to the risk of degradation caused by the leaching of oils or plasticisers. Additionally, it is not recommended for sealing joints in and around swimming pools.

• Over-Painting: While the product can be over-painted with most conventional paint systems, users should conduct preliminary trials to ensure compatibility. It is not advisable to use rigid paint systems on joints subject to movement, as they may crack.

• Tooling and Finishing: After application, the sealant should be tooled immediately to ensure a smooth finish and full contact with the joint sides. Avoid using solvent-based tooling products during this process.
