Weber Weberfloor 4720 Epoxy Primer
Weberfloor 4720 Epoxy Primer is a professional-grade, two-component epoxy primer designed for bonding substrates, providing excellent adhesion for cement-based products, smoothing compounds, and industrial flooring systems. Suitable for indoor applications, it ensures a high-quality bond for concrete or cementitious floors. It is applied in one coat, reducing project times and ensuring a smooth workflow.
Application
Weberfloor 4720 epoxy primer is best suited for substrates such as concrete and cementitious flooring, with minimum substrate strength requirements of 1.0 MPa for commercial/residential applications, and 1.5 MPa for industrial use. However, it is not recommended for use on substrates lacking a structural damp proof membrane as the product is only intended to suppress residual moisture.
Preparation and Priming
Before applying the primer, substrates must be non-friable and free of dust, cement, grease, or other contaminants. Ensure thorough preparation using appropriate mechanised surface tools and eliminate dust with vacuum equipment. The product must be applied at a temperature above +5°C, with optimal results between +10°C and +15°C.
Mixing Instructions
Weberfloor 4720 is supplied as two pre-mixed components: a resin base (Component A) and a hardener (Component B). These must be thoroughly mixed for 2–3 minutes using a slow-speed drill before application. Part mixing is not recommended. Once mixed, the primer has a working time of 35 minutes and must be applied promptly to avoid premature curing.
Application Process
Apply the mixed primer with a medium-pile roller at a minimum thickness of 200µm. A pinhole-free finish is essential, and additional coats may be required if full coverage isn’t achieved. For best results, apply the primer evenly from east to west, then roll from north to south. If required, scatter kiln-dried silica sand on the tacky surface to enhance adhesion.
Post-Application Care
Once the primer has set (approximately 3 hours), it can be overcoated with an appropriate weberfloor screed. The primer must be overcoated within 24 hours to maintain optimal adhesion. After 48 hours, mechanical abrasion and re-priming may be necessary to ensure compatibility with additional screed layers.
Restrictions and Limitations
Weberfloor 4720 epoxy primer should not be used on substrates without a damp-proof membrane or in areas where temperatures fall below +5°C during application. It is not intended to be used on surfaces that will remain uncovered. Additionally, mixing in part or delaying the application process will reduce performance. Please refer to the product data sheet for further limitations.
