Description

High-Performance Primer for a Variety of Substrates

Bond-Prime is a single-component, water-based primer formulated for sealing and stabilising mineral-based substrates. It enhances adhesion by combining deep penetration into the pore structure with a surface film-forming effect, ensuring a stable base for subsequent coatings. The primer is hydrophobic and alkali-resistant, making it highly effective on both new and aged surfaces.

Application & Suitable Substrates

This primer is specifically designed as a pre-treatment for the Flexcrete range of specialist membranes and coatings. It is ideal for use on:

  • Concrete, masonry, mortars, and renders
  • Plaster and phenolic board
  • Polyurethane foam and existing paint coatings

Bond-Prime is compatible with Flexcrete Concrete Repair Mortars, ensuring long-term durability and performance.

Fast Drying with Exceptional Bond Strength

Bond-Prime cures rapidly, allowing for overcoating within an hour in most conditions. It reacts chemically with subsequent coatings, forming a strong and lasting bond. The primer dries to a clear film with a green tint to verify complete coverage.

Simple Application & Equipment Cleaning

The primer can be applied using a brush, roller, or airless spray at 2500-3000 psi with an 11-19 thou tip size. Tools and equipment should be cleaned immediately with water.

Storage & Handling Guidelines

  • Store in a dry, frost-free environment away from direct heat.
  • Do not apply in wet conditions or when rain is imminent.
  • Avoid application below 5°C or on surfaces with a moisture content above 20%.
  • Containers should be resealed after use to prevent contamination.

Health & Safety

Bond-Prime is classified as non-hazardous under EU regulations but contains a biocidal product (1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one) that may cause an allergic reaction. Wear appropriate protective equipment during application. Refer to the downloadable safety data sheet for full details.

Important Considerations

  • Do not apply over contaminated or structurally unsound surfaces.
  • Ensure the primer is fully dry before applying subsequent coatings.
  • For highly absorbent or salt-laden surfaces, a second coat may be required.
  • Always refer to the technical data sheet for further guidance.
