Questions
Question about the product
Peter charlton on 2023-07-31 17:30:50 | Question:
If I use 108 Etch on my garage floor, when I rinsed it off it would go outside onto my driveway which is constructed of quartzite blocks. Will this affect my driveway. Does it com in 2.5 litre size.? Rust-oleum 7200 for a garage floor would you recommend gloss or silk. Thank you. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This product if rinsed from the garage floor in the direction of your drive and left for any period of time, is likely to affect the driveway surface. We only sell this in 5L pack sizes. Dependent on how high a sheen you require, would determine whether to go for a Gloss finish over Satin if using Rust-Oleum 7200 Floorcoat PU, Gloss would be the higher reflective finish of the two.
Scott Powers on 2019-11-14 10:49:11 | Question:
Could you please tell me how long to leave the area to dry after using this product, before applying anti-slip floor paint. Being used in Dispatch area kept at 5 degrees C? Thanks |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
The product data sheet states the following under directions for use; To ensure homogeneity shake well before use. Scrape or sweep away grease, oil, dirt and all other surface contamination as much as possible. Degrease by means of alkaline cleaning, high pressure (steam) cleaning or, for small patches, by volatile solvent cleaning. Apply Surfa-Etch 108 Etching Solution liberally and scrub it into the surface with a nylon brush or broom. Allow to stand for 10-15 minutes, depending on temperature, and clean thoroughly by flushing with plenty of fresh water. Do not allow the Surfa-Etch 108 Etching Solution to dry before rinsing! Concrete and masonry may need a second treatment. After cleaning, remove any remaining water and allow to dry completely, as moisture left on the surface or entrapped into pores may cause failure of the coating system. Large surface areas or poor drying conditions may require longer drying times before a coating system can be applied. It is not possible to provide an accurate length of time before the floor can be coated as this will depend on many factors such as temperature, air flow, humidity, porosity of the substrate, amount of water used to flush the area, etc. The product you intend to coat the floor with will have a maximum moisture content requirement for the substrate it is to be applied to. A definitive answer could be achieved by taking moisture readings of the floor with specialist equipment and only applying the coating once it has met the desired figure.
