High-Performance Water-Based Primer
Epoxy BS 2000 is a professional-grade, two-component, pigmented water-based primer designed for a range of substrates. It delivers superior adhesion on weakly absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces, such as old coatings and cementitious screeds. This primer is part of Remmers’ advanced Water Vapour Diffusion (WDD) system, ensuring reliable performance in moisture-sensitive environments.
Where Can It Be Used?
Formulated for use as a bonding layer on non-absorbent and weakly absorbent substrates, Epoxy BS 2000 is suitable for concrete, anhydrite screeds, magnesite screeds, and levelling compounds. It is particularly effective in systems requiring water vapour diffusion, making it ideal for high-humidity areas and industrial applications.
Why Choose This Primer?
- Optimised for adhesion to multiple substrates, including old coatings and interior mastic asphalts.
- Water vapour diffusion properties prevent moisture-related failures in flooring systems.
- Physiologically harmless once fully cured, making it safer for industrial environments.
Application and Preparation
The substrate must be dry, firm, and free from contaminants, with a tensile strength of at least 1.5 N/mm² and a compressive strength of at least 25 N/mm². The moisture content must not exceed:
- Concrete and cement screed: 6%.
- Anhydrite screed: 0.3%.
- Magnesite screed: 2-4%.
Before application, prepare the substrate by mechanical methods such as shot blasting. Mix components A and B at an 85:15 ratio by weight and apply using an epoxy roller or rubber blade. For highly absorbent substrates, up to 10% water dilution may be necessary.
Limitations and Restrictions
- Not suitable for surfaces exposed to constant UV light, as epoxy resins may yellow over time.
- Moisture-sensitive during curing; protect from moisture ingress until fully dry.
- Not recommended for outdoor applications where direct sunlight exposure is expected.
Always refer to the downloadable data sheet for detailed guidance on application and compatibility.
Compatible Products
Epoxy BS 2000 can be used in conjunction with the following Remmers system products for enhanced performance:
- Epoxy BS 3000 M – Matt finish sealing coat.
- Epoxy BS 3000 SG – Silk gloss finish for additional durability.
Health and Safety
Epoxy BS 2000 contains hazardous components, including bisphenol A diglycidyl ether, which may cause serious eye damage. Prolonged inhalation may lead to lung damage. Use personal protective equipment, including gloves and safety glasses. Avoid breathing vapours or spray mist.
UN Classification: Not classified as a dangerous good for transport.
Diisocyanates: Product does not contain diisocyanates.
Environmental impact: Do not allow to enter drains or watercourses.
