Suitable Substrates

Check the product data sheet for surface preparation guidelines.

  • Steel
  • Galvanized Iron
  • Aluminum
  • Concrete
  • Wood
  • Fibre-glass
  • PVC
  • Glazed tiles
  • Gloss Paints and Varnish
  • Ferrous metals
  • Stone

Application

  • Open Part A and stir gently for 1 minute or until homogenised
  • Open Part B and pour the contents into the product in the Part A tin
  • Stir mixture for 2 minutes or until well homogenised
  • (Optional) Pour mixture into paint trays, separating mixture into parts according to the number of workers present
  • Paint a single, thin coat onto the substrate, spreading out the material as much as possible without missing any areas
  • Clean the equipment
  • Allow unused material to cool for 2 hours before disposing of in normal waste to land fill site.

Notes

  • The pot life is 45-60 minutes. Normally it takes 10 minutes to cover a square meter, so if using a 4L pack it may require two people painting simultaneously.

Take care when opening as contents may be under pressure.

Wear safety goggles and protective gloves.

After substrates have been prepared, ensure they are completely dry, tests for adhesion have been completed and areas not to be coated have been masked off.

Stir well before use using a flat paddle.

If in doubt apply a test patch of EP90 Universal Epoxy Primer to ensure the substrate has been properly prepared and primed. Check adhesion of the coating by cutting a small X in the coating using a utility knife. Firmly apply a piece of packaging tape over the centre of the X cut, then pull off with a fast snap. The adhesion is suitable if no significant coating is removed beyond the X cut. If the coating fails this test, then additional surface preparation is required – repeat the surface preparation steps above.

Coverage

  • 6-8m² per litre per coat. Applied in a single application.
  • Coverage will vary depending on the porosity and profile of the surface.

Question:

How long before this product is shower proof outside?

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

This product is suitable as a primer only and must be overcoated with a compatible topcoat within the designated minimum and maximum overcoating period (min 3.5 hours and max 48 hours @ 20°C).

Exposure to water within this time could cause the primer to bloom and would then potentially need removing and reapplying.
