Pyroplex Rigid Box Intumescent Seals provide a traditional fire only seal for fire rated timber door edges and frames. They are suitable for rebates in single and double action, single or double doors, and are ideal for new build applications.

Pyroplex fire only Rigid Box Intumescent Seals are supplied in 2.1m lengths as standard and are quick and easy to fit with no special tools required. They are supplied with an acrylic self adhesive tape backing for ease of application.

Pyroplex fire only Rigid Box Intumescent Seals are tested to BS 467: Part 22 1987 and BS EN 1634-1:2008 and other international standards and are compliant with the requirements given in Certifire TS35.

Installation Instructions

1. Select the appropriate seal using the door test evidence, which will identify the size intumescent seal required
2. The seal needs to be located centrally in either the door leaf or frame
3. Route a groove suitable for the size of intumescent seal selected. Clean the rebate to remove any dust. Remove the self-adhesive backing liner from the product and push fit into the routed groove
4. To achieve excellent adhesion seals must be applied to clean, dry surfaces at temperatures between +5°C and +40°C

Product Testing

Pyroplex fire only Rigid Box Intumescent Seals are tested to BS 467: Part 22: 1987 and BS EN 1634-1: 2008 and are compliant with the requirements given in Certifire TS35.

Technical Data

Chemical composition: The active element is high-pressure forming, multi- directional expandable graphite contained within a high performance durable polymer.

Outer container: 0.5mm PVC-u outer casing, which has a proven performance in terms of durability, along with a high performance acrylic adhesive to aid installation.

Life cycle: 10 years, providing the seal is installed in accordance with the requirements given in this guidance notes.

Maintenance and Installation Records

As this product is not subject to routine and replacement programmes, Pyroplex Limited recommend that all firestopping materials are checked regularly to ensure that the product remains integral. Replace and fit any damaged components to reinstate the fire resistance or smoke sealing performance.

1. The seal needs to be located centrally in either the door leaf or frame.
2. Rout a groove suitable for the size of intumescent seal selected. Clean the rebate to remove any dust.

3. Measure and cut seal to length using a hacksaw. Remove self-adhesive backing and butt joint fit all seals to inside and outside of door frame or door, and meeting stiles of pairs of doors where applicable.

   Pressure must be applied to activate adhesive backing. Remove the self-adhesive backing liner from the product and push fit into the routed groove.

4. To achieve excellent adhesion seals must be applied to clean, dry surfaces at temperatures between +5°C and +40°C.
