    Tenmat’s Fire Rated Air Valves offer a unique and cost-effective solution for ensuring fire safety in buildings with recessed ceiling air valves. Designed to expand rapidly in the event of a fire, these valves help maintain the fire resistance rating of the ceiling, thereby limiting the spread of fire and heat throughout the building. Available in all common sizes for both Extract and Supply versions, they are suitable for a variety of building types including domestic homes, apartments, and hotels.



    Applications

    The Fire Rated Air Valves are ideal for use in buildings where fire ratings are crucial. They provide up to 60 minutes of fire resistance in solid timber joist floor/ceiling constructions and 30 minutes in I-beam and metal web joist floor/ceiling constructions. These valves are installed as normal air valves and do not require any additional maintenance beyond standard cleaning.

    Installation Instructions

    • Cut a hole in the ceiling to fit the outside diameter of the air valve mounting ring.
    • Fix the air valve to the ceiling via the screw holes in the valve.
    • Attach ducting onto the air valve mounting ring.
    • Fit the body of the valve into the mounting ring with a quarter turn twist.
    • Set inner cone clearance to provide the required air flow rate (max. 12mm).
    • Ensure the air valve fits snugly within the ceiling with no gaps or voids.
    • Other ceiling penetrations must be at least 200mm apart from the Fire Rated Air Valves.



    Restrictions and Recommendations

    Tenmat Fire Rated Air Valves should not be used in conjunction with materials that have not been tested for fire resistance. Always ensure to follow the installation instructions to maintain the fire rating. Do not install these valves in locations where they might be exposed to direct weather elements without proper protection. It is recommended to use other Tenmat passive fire protection products for comprehensive safety.

    Hi Tenmat Firefly ventilation valve. Can you please confirm that the stated dimension 100, 125 etc refers to the diameter of ducting that it fits - not the outside diameter of the device? Thank you

    Yes the listed size is the diameter of the extract and supply pipework, not the total diameter of the item.
