    Surface Preparation

    • Use in accordance with the standard Worldwide Marine Specifications
    • All surfaces to be coated should be clean, dry, and free from contamination
    • High pressure freshwater wash or freshwater wash, as appropriate, and remove all oil or grease, soluble contaminants and other foreign matter in accordance with SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning.

    Newbuilding/Major Refurbishment

    • Ensure the wood is clean and dry prior to application
    • For new wood it is recommended that the first coat is thinned 50% with GTA004 for maximum penetration into the wood

    Repair/OBM

    • Ensure the wood is clean and dry prior to application
    • Interlac 678 may be applied directly over aged Interlac 678 following thorough freshwater washing and degreasing provided the coating to be overcoated is in an intact and tightly adherent condition
    • Loose or flaking coatings should be removed back to a firm edge and Interlac 678 or an appropriate primer should be used to repair the area before application of the full coat

    Priming Bare Wood

    • The addition of GTA004 may be required for the application of the first coat to new wood, 50% maximum by volume.

    Application Conditions

    • Apply in good weather
    • Temperature of the surface to be coated must be at least 3°C above the dew point
    • For optimum application properties bring the material to 21-27°C, unless specifically instructed otherwise, prior to mixing and application

    Application

    Mixing

    • This material is a one pack coating and should always be mixed thoroughly with a power agitator before application

    Airless Spray

    • Suitable
    • Tip Range 0.33-0.38 mm (13-15 thou)
    • Total output fluid pressure at spray tip not less than 176 kg/cm² (2500 p.s.i.)

    Conventional Spray

    • Use suitable proprietary equipment
    • Thinning may be required

    Brush

    • Recommended

    Roller

    • Recommended
