Surface Preparation
- All surfaces to be coated should be dry and cleaned as necessary to remove all oil, grease, salts, weld flux or other contamination
Mixing
- Must be mixed thoroughly by using a mechanical agitator before use
- Agitate periodically to ensure paint remains homogeneous
Thinner

Equipment Cleaner
Application Conditions
- Only apply in conditions of good ventilation which must be maintained during drying and curing
- Do not apply when rain, mist, sleet or snow are imminent
- During application and drying time of the paint coating, the surface should be dry, the relative humidity should not exceed 85% and the steel temperature should remain at least 3°C above the dew point
- Paint temperature should ideally be at a minimum of 15ºC
Application Methods
- Airless Spray: Output fluid pressure at tip 2000 psi min., Tip Size 11-13 thou (0.28-0.33 mm)
- Conventional spray: Typical air atomising pressure 40-60 psi. Will require thinning to 25-35 seconds @ 25ºC through a BS B4 Flow Cup
- Application by brush is recommended for touch up only as product is very fast drying
- Dependent on temperature, the material may require thinning up to 10% with 1006 Thinner
Product Notes
- Product should be applied to cool surfaces (around 20ºC)
- Allow to dry for at least the minimum overcoating times before heating to elevated service temperatures
- A typical system would be 2 coats of ViterTherm QD at 20-25 microns dft per coat, applied over a sound existing system. Please consult Axalta Coating Systems or Rawlins Paints Technical Department on 0113 2455450 (option 2) or send a message to [email protected] for more information.
- Do not use in acid or alkali environments
- Ingress of moisture into the can will cause gassing and pressure build up – take care when opening
Health & Safety
- Containers are provided with safety labels which should be observed
- Further information about hazardous influences and protection are detailed in individual Product Safety Data Sheets
