Coo-Var Matt Black | Fast Drying Acrylic Coating

This water-based acrylic coating is a versatile solution for creating a high-opacity, flat black finish, perfect for various surfaces like beams, wrought iron, and masonry. Its matt black colour and non-flammable properties make it ideal for spaces where a dark, flat finish is required. Dries quickly, with a hard dry time of 30 minutes.

Where to Use

This product excels on a range of surfaces, such as wood, metal (with primer), cement, and plaster. It is highly recommended for dark rooms, as it enhances the overall appearance by providing a deep, rich black finish. For metal surfaces, use the Coo-Var Water Based All Metals Primer before applying the matt black coating. This product is perfect for both indoor and outdoor environments but should not be applied below 7°C.

Application Instructions

Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from grease or oil before application. For unstable surfaces like plaster or screed, use a stabiliser beforehand. Existing painted surfaces should be sanded to create a key for adhesion. Apply with a brush or roller, using water as a thinner if necessary (up to 5%). Recoat after 6 hours if required. The drying time may be extended in cooler or humid conditions.

Important Considerations

• Do not apply below 7°C, as it may affect drying time and finish.
• Not suitable for use on plastics, rubber, or glass.
• Avoid using in confined spaces without proper ventilation to prevent the build-up of vapours.
• For best results, always use in well-ventilated areas and follow all safety guidelines provided on the data sheet.
