Rust-Oleum Mathys Dacfill HZ
Dacfill HZ is a high-performance, water-based liquid membrane designed for waterproofing horizontal roofs. This two-component system forms a seamless, elastic coat that ensures 100% watertight protection. Its white colour reflects sunlight, reducing heat absorption, and enhancing energy efficiency. The product is easy to apply with a brush, roller, or airless spray, making it versatile for various professional applications.
Features and Benefits
- Quick Drying: Touch dry in 1.5 hours and ready for recoating in 12 hours, minimizing downtime during application.
- High Durability: Resistant to UV radiation, acid rain, heat, frost, and pollution, ensuring long-lasting protection.
- Safe Application: Non-flammable and self-extinguishing properties provide enhanced safety during use.
- Versatile Use: Suitable for application on bitumen, concrete, pre-painted surfaces, and roof tiles.
- Environmentally Friendly: Low VOC levels at 55 g/l, complying with environmental safety regulations.
- Elastic Finish: Provides a seamless, joint-free coat that adapts to substrate movements, preventing cracks and leaks.
Application Instructions
For optimal results, ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and free from debris. Apply a primer if necessary, depending on the substrate material. Mix components A and B thoroughly before application. Use a brush, roller, or airless spray to apply the first coat, embedding Dacfill-mesh for added reinforcement on low-slope roofs. Allow the first coat to dry, then apply a second coat to achieve the desired thickness. Avoid application on TPO substrates or during adverse weather conditions.
Restrictions and Limitations
- Do not apply on TPO materials.
- Avoid application during wet or extremely humid conditions to ensure proper drying and adhesion.
- Not for consumer use: This product is intended for professional or industrial applications only.
Recommended Products
For additional surface preparation and protection, consider using Parafix for substrate fixation and Elastofill for joint filling. These complementary products enhance the overall performance and longevity of the Dacfill HZ coating.

Mark on 2021-01-26 16:42:35 | Question:
Can this product be over coated yearly or will it need the full system reapplied? or primed? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This product has a 15 year maintenance free life expectancy, so this should not be required. But assuming the roof is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the Technical Data Sheet it can be reapplied directly.
Phil on 2019-07-08 16:16:22 | Question:
Hi - a few years back i applied 3M Scotchkote Poly-Tech LS 657 (the 5 year system) to my roof. I bought it from yourselves. I've still got a couple of years before first maintanance, but I see it is now discontinued. Could I just apply the likes of Mathys Dacfill HZ over the top? Look forward to hearing from you. Cheers Phil |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
It is always difficult guaranteeing compatibility between two different manufacturers however, assuming all the usual preparation requirements (good condition, well adhered, clean and dry etc.) then we think Rust-Oleum Mathys Dacfill HZ should be fine as a maintenance coat in this instance.
Matthew on 2018-06-01 15:45:43 | Question: I want to add a waterproof paint coating to a flat felt roof. The rood is reasonably new (1 year) but prone to ponding in some areas and already has one 'spongy' patch where water has clearly gone through the top mineral layer. I would like to add a waterproof paint layer to this to protect it further, can you recommend a product please from your range? Cheers |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: Rust-Oleum Mathys Dacfill HZ (used in conjunction with Rust-Oleum Mathys Dacfill HZ Fleece) may be used in areas where long term ponding is expected so would be ideally suited to your application. However, the fact that the felt is already “suspect” (where water has already penetrated after only a year) if that is causing problems underneath the felt layer, the Dacfill HZ cannot resolve that.
ken on 2017-06-02 12:40:59 | Question: can Rust-oleum Mathys Dacfill hz be walked on when dry (say on a terrace). |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: No, but for products that can see our Balcony Paint Systems category.
gary wiseman on 2015-09-14 11:31:15 | Question: Can Rust-Oleum Mathys Dacfill HZ be applied to an epdm roof? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: No, but 801 Seamless Roof Finish or GacoPro Roof Coating can.
