Question:

Do you have any performance testing data available for the finish? I'm looking to specify painting for an external footbridge, which needs to improve on the minimum specification for low slip risk from the HSE.

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

The anti-slip properties of Treadsafe have been tested to BS7976-2, which assesses the potential for slip of a surface, and grades them from “High” to “Extremely Low” (i.e. best slip resistance). In wet conditions, Treadsafe achieved a Pendulum Test Value of 91. According to BS 7976-2, anything with a PTV above 75 is classified as “Extremely Low”.

Question:
Hi I'm stripping my stairs and painting them. Is this suitable to use on the wooden treads? If not what do you recommend? Thanks Cath
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Wood should be sanded to a reasonably smooth finish, and all previous coatings should be removed. Any uncoated surfaces or edges which are not to be treated with Treadsafe should be sealed to prevent expansion and contraction of the wood due to moisture.

Question:
I am looking for a non slip paint which could be applied to metal fire escapes. Some of our the fire escapes are galvanized while the others are cast iron. Which product do you recommend? Colour doesn't matter but yellow would be our first choice. Many thanks, Ian.
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Rust-Oleum SuperGrip Treadsafe would be an ideal solution for this application. Both surfaces would need to be thoroughly cleaned and degreased with Rust-Oleum Mathys ND14 Cleaner Degreaser, remove any loose or flaking material and rust by wire brushing or disc grinding.

Existing weathered (1yr+) galvanised surfaces can be coated with Rust-Oleum SuperGrip Treadsafe directly. If the galvanising is new this must first be primed with Rust-Oleum 3333 Super Adhesion Primer. Mild steel/Cast iron must be first primed with Rust-Oleum 9169 Epoxy Rust Primer.

If the staircases are external, we would recommend applying one coat of Rust-Oleum 9200 Rust-O-Thane over Rust-Oleum SuperGrip Treadsafe to provide colour, gloss and UV stability.
