Coo-Var Masonry Stabiliser
This single-pack masonry stabilising solution is specifically designed to address unstable or degraded surfaces such as brick, screed, and plaster. It seals porous surfaces effectively, creating a smooth and stable base for subsequent paint applications. It is perfect for preparing areas before a decorative topcoat is applied, ensuring long-lasting results by preventing further deterioration of the underlying masonry.
Application Recommendations
Prior to applying the product, ensure that the surface is thoroughly cleaned, removing any loose debris, oil, grease, or flaking material. Apply using a brush or roller in a well-ventilated area, ensuring that the surface is completely dry. The recoat time is typically 12 hours, but drying times may vary depending on conditions. It is essential to mix the product well before use to achieve the best results.
Restrictions and Limitations
This product should not be applied to surfaces that are wet or exposed to extreme temperatures, as this can adversely affect its performance. Do not use on wood, metals, or other surfaces that are not masonry, screed, or plaster. Additionally, always check compatibility before applying subsequent topcoats.
Other Recommended Products
Once your masonry has been stabilised, it is recommended to apply a suitable topcoat to ensure complete protection and a smooth finish. Questions
Question about the product
Dee on 2018-02-09 16:53:52 | Question:
1. Can I use this on self levelling compound floor before tiling on top of it. 2. Can I use on peeling / flacking brick paint in front porch for maintenance work on wall. Trying to restore old brick wall on front of house - porch (dwarf walls) |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Stabilising Solution should not be required on a floor before using a self-levelling compound. We would recommend you follow the preparation guidelines for the levelling compound you have as this can vary depending on the type/product chosen. Stabilising Solution is intended for very porous masonry surfaces and surfaces subject to chalking. Peeling and flaking paints need to be removed back to a stable surface, Zinsser Peel Stop may also be useful here. | |
