Thank you for the enquiry, unfortunatley we do not have a product to recommend for this application.

How frequently do I need to repaint external wood surface (wall) with fire retardant paint? Thank you

If you are to use a system with a separate basecoat and topcoat then the topcoat must remain intact to protect the intumescent layer.

Providing the topcoat is regularly checked and maintained then you shouldn’t need to re-apply the intumescent, only the topcoat where needed.

You cannot apply fire rated varnishes over previously painted surfaces (existing varnishes and stains are OK but not opaque paints), so you would instead need to apply something like Zeroflame Fire Retardant Paint over the area which you can then overcoat with your own paint (see guidelines on overcoating on the product data sheet) to bring it back to the colour and finish of your choice.

I have just completed building a timber work shop. I want paint the inside white and light grey . It has a log burner and thought it best to use a fire retardant paint. What paint can you recommend. Approx 60 m2 . . .

We have been advised to paint wood at the rear of a village hall stage with intumescent paint. Can it be painted over with ordinary paint e.g. black so as not to ruin the look of a stage? . . .

Most of our fire protection systems can come in the colour and finish of your choice, so black would be no issue for the system to come in for example meaning you would not have to worry about overcoating.

We have two options to suggest as a starting point depending on what level of fire protection you wish to achieve;

I have had a loft conversion and in order to pass fire regulations have to have fire protecion added to 3 sets of glass panel doors in my downstairs hall area. There are 72 glass panels in total. Do you have any clear fireproof coa . . .

We do not have any fire protection coatings that can be applied to glass.

Hi can the fire retardant paint for steel be painted over and still be ok!? as I want it to be a certain colour . . .

All of the intumescent paints we offer for steel have their own range of topcoats that can be used to provide protection and colour to the steel once coated in intumescent paint. If you have a specific product in mind we can advise on the range of topcoats for that product.

Ive got 1000ltr central heating oil tank behind timber shed, there is the 300mm required space between them, will your paint meet required reg’s instead of fireboard ? . . .

Thank you for your enquiry, in order for us to be able to comment, please provide us with as much of the following information as possible;

  • Size of surface area to paint
  • Timber thickness
  • Level of Fire Protection required (Class 1, Class 0, 30min, 60min, etc.)
  • Type of timber (i.e. pine, mdf, plywood, etc.)
  • Type of Timber surface (i.e. T&G, feather edge / shiplap cladding, solid panels / sheets, etc.)

We are converting our barn to habitable use and at Building Regs Stage. It is single storey 59m2, the ceiling will slope up to the apex. The walls will be insulated plasterboard with 3mm skim applied, the sloping part will be Birch . . .

Assuming a level of fire protection is required we would suggest Thermoguard Fire Varnish BS Class 1/0 & EN Class B System or Thermoguard Fire Varnish 30 & 60 Minute System - whichever satisfies the requirements of your authority.

We would recommend carrying out a sample area first to ensure you are happy with the appearance prior to coating the full area.

Hi I am after 30 min protection for a 1m steel I beam lintel. Are the Jotun products clear? We were looking for a clear not coloured finish Thanks . . .

All the intumescent systems we offer for fire protection to steel are coloured and not clear.

Looking for a fire resistant base coat / primer solution to apply to bare MDF. Would like to be able to paint over in my own colour so do not need a top coat. . . .

Assuming BS Class 1/0 Surface Spread of Flame protection is required we would recommend Zeroflame Fire Retardant Paint. If this is not the level of fire protection required, please advise.

I have been asked by one of my customers to install three fire doors as per a recent fire assessment report. However, as the frames are not able to taking new doors due to the amount of trimming required. I suggested painting with . . .

There is no charge for the issue of certification after use, however for us to be able to advise whether any of the products we offer would be suitable for your project we would require an image of the door(s) (if possible) and as much information as possible for the below points;

  • Level of Fire Protection required? (i.e. 30min, 60min, etc.)
  • Style of door? (i.e. panelled, ledge & brace, etc.)
  • Solid or hollow core? - (please note we cannot provide anything to upgrade hollow doors)
  • Door size? (height and width)
  • Door thickness? (include thickness at thinnest point (i.e. panel))
  • Number of doors to do?
  • Clear or coloured finish required?
  • Bare or previously painted?

I have to upgrade some doors to 30 minute fire doors to meet building regulations. These doors are already painted with gloss paint. Can I use a fire retardant paint over the top ion the gloss coat and then paint over that with ano . . .

Hi there, I have a steel structure in red oxide building control are asking for it to be coated in a fire proof paint I see you sell this but they are asking for a product that has a current BBA certificate or Fire test certificate . . .

We do not offer any intumescent paints for steel that hold BBA certification due to them being unable to carry out fire testing. Instead they are reliant on fire test centres such as Exova, BRE etc. of which all the intumescent paints for steel we offer have been tested at such facilities and copies of certificates are freely available.

In order for us to be able to advise which product would be best for your project, please provide us with as much of the following information as possible;

  • Level of fire protection required (i.e. 30, 60, 90min, etc.)
  • Each steel section dimension (i.e. 254x146x37 UB)
  • Quantity and length of each section (or overall meterage for each section)
  • Orientation (horizontal or vertical)
  • Number of sides to be painted (all sides, 3 sides, 1 flange, etc.)
  • Environment (internal, external, car park, chemical exposure, etc.)
  • Application on site or in shop

Alternatively you can just forward us drawings, fabrication/cutting lists and we'll extract the information from them but in that instance we'd need some guidance as to what to allow for i.e. all steels on first floor, etc.

Building control have requested that the timber door leading to my basement has 30 mins fire protection can you recommend a paint please . . .

Providing your doors are suitable then Envirograf Door Upgrade Paint System or Envirograf Door Upgrade Varnish System may be suitable.

I am hand weaving linen fabric to cover a fire resistant foam pad on a chair and footstool. I am making them for someone who hopes to sell his handmade furniture and so I need to know which product would be best suited to fire proo . . .

We would suggest Envirograf 3-2-1 Standard Fire Retardant Liquid for this application. We would recommend the seller carries out their own due dilligence to ensure this will meet the requirements of their products/regulations.

Hi I have 500sqm of timber to fireproof and receive a certificate for. What is the best spray on solution you have and most cost efective Many thanks . . .

Hi I’m in the process of having my bathroom renovated and we have a had a steel RSJ put in and I would like to leave it exposed.i need a black intumescent paint,so that it would pass the building regulations .do you have this pro . . .

Assuming that it would not be subjected to moisture and 30 minutes is the level of protection required we would suggest Zeroflame Aquasteel WB+ 30min System for Steel.

I am looking for a fire resistant liquid roofing membrane something like ultraflex but with a good fire rating Aidan Quinn 07770303009 . . .

Bullet Roof Mono achieved BROOF T4 fire rating.

Good morning. I have two side by side steele beam in an opening which I have recently exposed. There is a gap between the two at the bottom. My thoughts, to comply with fire regs can , fire board using in piece to expand over the t . . .

Generally it is OK to box in steelwork with fire rated board instead of using an intumescent paint however in this instance it sounds as though there will be a combination of exposed steel and the fire board. We would advise discussing with your building inspector to check they are OK with the proposal before purchasing any paint.

Do you do flame retardant paint for steel rsj's in grey? Thanks

Yes, our intumescent paint systems for steel are available in nearly all RAL and BS colours.

Looking for paint to go on a ductwork for a pizza oven with around a 1 hrs fire rating

Unfortunately we do not have any intumescent paints that would achieve 1 hr on ductwork.

Hi could you give me some advice on how much fire resistant paint in will need to use on the RSJs we are keeping exposed please Many thanks . . .

Certainly, please provide us with as much of the following information as possible;

  • Level of fire protection required (i.e. 30, 60, 90min, etc.)
  • Each steel section dimension (i.e. 254x146x37 UB)

We are currently undertaking a private residential project in London which requires a custom-sized pocket door that is FD30 fire rated. The hardware is certified as fire rated, however we are having difficulty with the door panel i . . .

We would suggest seeking approval from your authority for the Thermoguard Timbercoat Door Upgrade System.

Hi. We are looking for a compatible red zinc oxide primer and 60 minute intumescent paint for a large school project that we are currently working on. We had previously specified a Nullifire primer and intumescent paint but where o . . .

Thank you for your enquiry, in order for us to be able to advise, please provide us with as much of the following information as possible;

I have a metal rsj that is primed and painted. The paint is not fire proof. Is there a product that I can coat the paint and then reapply the 30 min fire paint . . .

For small, domestic projects we recommend all existing paint is removed apart from a suitable primer. After removal of existing coatings ensure all areas of steel are primed with a full coat of compatible primer and then apply the Zeroflame Aquasteel WB+ 30min System for Steel.

Is there a clear intumescent paint for wood.

We do a number of clear intumescent coatings for wood but we would require as much of the following information as possible to be able to provide a recommendation on which one to use.

  • Size of surface area to paint
  • Timber thickness
  • Level of Fire Protection required (Class 1, Class 0, 30min, 60min, etc.)
  • Type of timber (i.e. pine, mdf, plywood, etc.)
  • Type of Timber surface (i.e. T&G, feather edge / shiplap cladding, solid panels / sheets, etc.)
  • Internal or external
  • Use (i.e. floor, wall cladding, ceiling, etc.)
  • Clear or coloured coating required?
  • Bare or previously coated?

What is the lowest temperature fire paint can be applied on steel.

It would depend on the product being used. The application temperature range should be stated on the products Technical Data Sheet.

Hi i will need 30 minutes fire resistant paint for RSJ beam. Size of 125ml can you tell me how much will cost me? Thank you. . . .

We're not sure what the size of 125ml relates to, however Zeroflame Aquasteel WB+ 30min System for Steel is a popular system we offer regularly for steel requiring 30 minutes fire protection.

Hi We have borrowed some scenery for a theatre show and we want to make sure that the painted surface is resistant to the spread of flame. The scenery is painted with emulsion paint on MDF boarding on a timber frame. The frame cann . . .

If we are correct in assuming you are requiring a clear coating to apply over the emulsion to keep the look of what has been painted whilst upgrading the spread of flame rating, unfortuantely the clear coatings we offer would not be suitable for this. They are instead intended for bare timber or timber that has been previously stained or varnished.

Can you please tell me if "Zeroflame Fire Retardant paint" is suitable for doing the ceiling of a carport which has a bedroom over it? The ceiling is made of external ply, above which is Celotex insulation, then a fire-retardant bo . . .

Zeroflame Fire Retardant Paint wouldn't be suitable as it is only suitable for interior applications. If you can advise on the level of fire protection required we can recommend a suitable alternative.

To follow up my most recent e-mail. I don't know what level of protection I want because I am nw quite out of my depth here. I'm just a householder wanting to make sure that I'm doing the right thing. You are clearly much more expe . . .

The level of fire protection would need to be sought from your local authority to ensure compliance but we would assume as you have advised that the ceiling has 'fire-retardant boarding' that any requirement for separation/compartmentalisation had been achieved by this (i.e. 30min, 60min, etc.).

So assuming it is just a surface spread of flame concern for the outer facing plywood then we would suggest the exterior grade spec. of the Thermoguard Timbercoat BS Class 1/0 & EN Class B System.

I have an RSJ 12 foot long i need to paint it grey and to building inspector standard with certificate. Can you help . . .

Is there a fire-proofing product that can be painted on a plastic oil tank to provide a barrier when the tank is less than 1800mm from a building (in this case a garage)? Grateful for your advice Regards Clive Hadfield . . .

Unfortunately we currently have no products we can offer for this application

do you have a pait that will upgrade 100mm ply wood to 120 I/E? damien 07939356320

Unfortuantely not, 60 minutes fire protection would be the maximum we could offer with a paint product.

can you please advise what intumescent paint we can use on steel beams that have already been primed with red oxide paint? . . .

Most intumescent paints for steel can be applied over a standard (well applied) red oxide primer, however to provide confirmation of compatibility we would need a data sheet for the red oxide used.

Also, in order to provide a recommendation for the correct intumescent paint and quantity to use, please provide us with as much of the following information as possible;

  • Level of fire protection required (i.e. 30, 60, 90min, etc.)
  • Each steel section dimension (i.e. 254x146x37 UB)
  • Quantity and length of each section (or overall meterage for each section)

Hi Im looking for a high heat resistant paint, to paint the exteriour of my fireplace. I want i to be gold or brass, fo you have anything like that? Best regards Emma . . .

We currently only offer heat resistant paints in aluminium, black and white.

Doing loft conversion cannot cover all steel in fire line board access, what paint will confirm give at least 30 min and or 60mins fire protection . . .

Assuming the steels are already primed with a compatible primer, are internal and are not hollow sections, Zeroflame Aquasteel WB+ 30min System For Steel is a simple system to achieve 30mins fire protection.

Hi do you sell 200ml of the 30 minutes fire resistant paint? Thank you.

Dependant upon the substrate you are looking to protect, the majority of our fire retardant products would be available in a minimum 1lt size but more information would be required - please email [email protected] with more information to enable us to provide further answers.

Hello. I’d like to add a fire retardant to 9mm ply cladding (internal). Can you recommend a product that may help? Apologies if this information is already on your site and I missed it! Best wishes, Tommy Lewis . . .

Can you please tell me which fire retardant coating suitable for exterior wooden decking and than complies to class 1 surface spread of flames BS476, part 7. and if this can be applied to decking already treated with normal decking . . .

Zeroflame Fire Retardant Treatment can achieve UK Class 1/0 on timber decking boards but must be applied to a bare porous timber so the existing varnish would need to be removed. Once the treatment is fully dry, it can then be overcoated with a water based coating of your choice. We have no products/systems suitable for application over an existing varnish finish currently.

Hi I’m building a timber summerhouse which will be situated about 10cm away from my garden border timber fence. To abide with building regulations, I need to treat them both with a fire retardant product. I would like the ‘fini . . .

Assuming the timber is a bare softowood or hardwood and a UK Class 1/0 level of fire protection is adequate we'd recommend Zeroflame Fire Retardant Treatment.

HI, I need to apply 110m2 of a fire retardent stain or paint onto 6 x 1 sawn timber, its for internal use. i would like a colour. of old oak, is this possible with your products. Regards Steve . . .

Assuming a UK Class 1/0 level of fire protection is required, Zeroflame Fire Retardant Treatment can be applied to bare softwood and hardwood timber - once dry, this can be overcoated with a water based stain of your choice.

What is the dft on 60 minute protection with firetex

Every individual steel section size would need a different loading to achieve the same level of fire protection. The number of sides exposed, the orientation and the environment would all have an impact on the product we would recommend and the loading requirements.

Can you let us know if you have a suitable product that can be applied to OSB sterling guard that would give us class 0 surface spread of flame? Ideally this would be a clear Matt laquer. If you could recommend a product it would b . . .

For Interior applications we would suggest - Envirograf QVFR Clear Class 1/0 & EN Class B System for Wood (Interior) and for exterior Envirograf ES/VFR Clear Class 1/0 & EN Class B System for Wood (Exterior)

Our (Angus Council) new build housing development requires for Building Warrant (Scottish Regulations 2017) purposes a fire retardant clear coating to be be applied to installed new timber rain screen cladding to external walls. th . . .

Unfortunately we couldn't offer anything in clear to go over a previously painted surface but assuming a UK Class 1/0 level of protection is suitable then we'd recommend Thermoguard Timbercoat BS Class 1/0 & EN Class B System for a coloured paint system.

I have some rooms with very nice polystyrene tile ceilings and coving. Is there a white or clear fire retardant paint you can put on these tiles or do they have to come down to meet fire reglations? It is a lathe and plaster ceilin . . .

I want 120 minutes fire retardant paint for Mild steel door

Unfortunately we cannot offer any Fire Protection paint for a steel door.

Morning We need to laquer a veneered table for Harrods . The veneer is not class fire rated . Have you a product we can use . Preferably one we can spray on and as close to dead matt as we can . . .

If you are looking to achieve Class 0 Fire Protection we can recommend Thermoguard Fire Varnish Sprayshop Lacquer System

This is only available in a satin or gloss finish.

I need to fireproof my steel. Usually I’d use fire rated plasterboard and skim cost of plaster. The height is too tight for this. So I wanted to cost with intumescent paint then plaster over this to give me the same rating. Can I . . .

You can certainly coat the steelwork with intumescent paint to provide the level of fire protection you require but you cannot then plaster over it. It would need to remain as the intumescent paint and topcoat only.

If you wish to proceed, please provide us with as much of the following information as possible;

  • Level of fire protection required (i.e. 30, 60, 90min, etc.)

Alternatively you can just forward us drawings, fabrication/cutting lists and we'll extract the information from them but in that instance we'd need some guidance as to what to allow for i.e. all steels on first floor, etc.

Hi, looking to make doors fireproof, we have internal doors which have gloss paint, will your fireproof vanish be ok to use on top of? . . .

In order for us to be able to advise which product/system would be best for your doors, please provide us with an image of the door(s) (if possible) and as much information as possible for the below points;

  • Level of Fire Protection required? (i.e. 30min, 60min, etc.)

  • Quantity and length of each section (or overall meterage for each section)

  • Environment (internal, external, car park, chemical exposure, etc.)
  • Application on site or in shop

Alternatively you can just forward us drawings, fabrication/cutting lists and we'll extract the information from them but in that instance we'd need some guidance as to what to allow for i.e. all steels on first floor, etc.

Hi my celling is 2 layers of fireboard plasterboard and my architect has told me that if I was to pierce the board (which I intend to do) I would need an incandescent collar for the cable petruding out the plasterboard, for example . . .

As long as the gap between the cable and the plasterboard is no bigger than 10mm you could use Protecta FR Putty Cord or if the gap is between 10-30mm you can use Protecta FR Acrylic 4hr Intumescent Sealant, both will give at least 60min integrity and insulation.

Good evening, we are coming to the end of a new build and looking for the best high build 60min fire retardant paint, the walls are concrete blocks and the ceiling plaster board. Can you also recommend a spray system please Kind re . . .

We would consider Thermoguard Wallcoat 30 & 60 Minute System for this type of application but would first need some further information to confirm suitability. Please contact our Technical Department on 0113 2455450 (option 2).

None of the fire protection products we offer clear or otherwise have BBA certification due to BBA being unable to carry out fire testing. Instead they are reliant on fire test centres such as Exova, BRE, etc. of which the products we offer are tested to hold third party approval certificates from these relevant test centres.

Do you have a paint that i can fire proof a fence panel with? Many thanks

Assuming you are looking to achieve Class 0 Level of Fire Protection and the fence has not been previously painted and meets the substrate requirements in the Technical Data Sheet we can recommend Zeroflame Fire Retardant Treatment.

This product is clear, lasts for the lifetime of the substrate once absorbed and can be over painted for decorative purposes - Waterborne stains or varnishes can be used over Zeroflame Fire Retardant Treatment as long as they are compatible, non-flammable and will dry. We always recommend to try a small sample area first to ensure the stain does not react with the Zeroflame Fire Retardant Treatment and will dry out.

Hi do you have a clear steel intumescent paint in stock ?? Regards Dave

No.

I'm currently putting a new coat of black paint on my timber clad barn conversion. But one wall is 1M from the neighbouring property, and was previously painted with some form of black fire retardant paint - this has peeled away in . . .

Without knowing what system has already been applied we could only recommend that the whole system be removed and a new fire retardant system applied. If Class 1/0 is required then we'd recommend Thermoguard Timbercoat BS Class 1/0 System. For 30mins protection we'd recommend Timbercoat 30 & 60 minute system but this would only be suitable if your timber meets the required minimum thickness.

hi is there a clear paint I can use to fire rate a timer wall please thanks Steven astbury

If Class 1/0 is required then we'd recommend Thermoguard Fire Varnish BS Class 1/0 & EN Class B System. For 30mins protection we'd recommend Thermoguard Fire Varnish 30 & 60 Minute System but this would only be suitable if your timber meets the required minimum thickness.

I want to paint a varnished wood panelled ceiling white. As it is in a kitchen it has been suggested by a friend I should use fire resistant paint. Is there a system I can apply over varnish but also changing the colour to white. T . . .

We do have fire protection products for painting timber to differing levels of fire protection.

As to if the ceiling requires fire protection and to what level we could not advise on, we would recommend consulting building control on this matter.

Assuming no level of fire protection is required, the previously varnished timber is clean, dry, sound and prepard as detailed in the technical data sheet we can recommend Zinsser B-I-N followed by Zinsser Perma-White Interior.

This is available in many RAL and BS colours in a matt or satin finish.

This is a scrubbable paint suitable for high humidity areas, but does not provide a level of fire protection

What to paint a RSJ in Kitchen/diner that would exposed in a Blue colour

Assuming a level of fire protection is required on the universal steel, we can recommend the Thermoguard Thermocoat WI System's for Universal Beams & Columns.

These systems come in m² pack sizes for 30 or 60mins protection and the topcoats can be mixed to many RAL or BS colours.

We would recommend seeking approval from Building Control prior to application.

If you require assistance with a specification please contact [email protected]

Hi. I've just purchased some Thermoguard Thermocoat undercoat and Frame Retardant top coat. Please can you advise if it is suitable for use with an HVLP sprayer or if you would recommend a different method of spray application? It . . .

Unfortunately Thermoguard Thermocoat products are not suitable for application by HVLP, but they can be applied by brush or roller or commercial airless spray equipment.

If the steel has anything other than a compatible primer on, it must be stripped back to bare metal before application of a compatible primer then the Thermocoat system.

In this case you will need to apply Thermoguard Steel Fire Paint Primer once you have stripped the steel back to a bare, sound condition.

We would recommend seeking approval from your building control officer prior to application.

If the doors in question have been painted with an intumescent paint system, the same system should be used to repair or repaint any areas with the manufacturers approval.

We do offer a Colour Match Service if you wish to send in a sample.

We can mix many paints to most RAL, NCS or BS colours.

If you require a specification for fire protecting doors please send the information below along with pictures of the doors to [email protected]

Good Afternoon, Can you tell me how often timber cladding fitted to the external wall of a flat (<11m) be treated with fire retardant paint? Many thanks Alan . . .

Any fire protection coating should be regularly inspected and maintained.

The life span of any paint can vary dependant on the environment and exposure.

Hi, Looking for a 15 minute fire resistant paint to go on a plasterboard cieling so we can meet building regs. What would you recommend and what is the final finish like? . . .

Assuming the plaster board ceiling is clean, dry, sound, prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet, approval is sought from building control prior to purchase and application you could consider Thermoguard Wallcoat 30 & 60 Minute System for Plasterboard.

This can achieve 30mins on 9mm plasterboard or 60mins on 12.5mm plasterboard.

hello a few days ago I bought your SteelMaster 600WF paint in a local store I can send you a receipt however I have not received the certificate can you send it to me thank you . . .

Jotun Steelmaster 600WF is made by Jotun.

Jotun do not issue certificates after application of their intumescent coatings.

However, sometimes they calculate loadings based on a material list provided by the customer and generate a Client Schedule.

The applicator should provide any application records showing dry film thicknesses achieved on each section.

Based on both documents, the end customer should have confidence that the system was applied as per Jotun's schedules.

Client Schedules can also be generated by the applicator or dealer should they have access to the relevant loadings calculator in which case Jotun would not know the schedule for the specific project.

More information can be found on the Jotun Fire Certification Information page.

Hello can you recommend a paint for concrete ceilings that can be mixed into a RAL colour that is also Class O (spread of flame) please? Thank you. . . .

For this application assuming the concrete is bare, clean, dry, sound and prepared you could consider the Thermoguard Wallcoat BS Class 1/0 & EN Class B System.

This can be mixed to many RAL, NCS or BS colours in a matt or eggshell finish.

We would recommend to seek approval from Building Control prior to purchase and application.

Thank you for the enquiry, please complete the form on the link below so we can assist with a specification.

THERMOGUARD FIRE APPLICATION FORMS,

Hi Do you have an intumescent paint product for structural steel which is certified to achieve REI90 minutes fire protection, i.e. structural, insulation & integrity? Thanks . . .

Unfortunately no.

Intumescents are not a suitable means of fire protection for the insulation criteria of REI.

The problem is that the insulation criteria requires a maximum temperature rise on the non-fire side of 140 degrees C and since thin film intumescent is designed to react to substrate temperatures of around 200 C then the system will fail, as the insulation maximum will be surpassed before the intumescent expands.

The steel will require to be protected by other means to achieve the insulation criteria.

I need a specification for intumescent paint to achieve 1hr fire protection of steelwork

Hi, we need to specify an aquasteel paint to achieve 60mins fire protection for a container building ceilings. consisting of both hollow sections, 100x50, and corrugated steel as well as some channel sections however we wish to use . . .

Intumescent paints cannot be used on cold rolled steel, so it would be unlikely the container roof could be protected in this way.

Please provide the information below to [email protected] so we can assist with a specification.

- Level of fire protection required (i.e. 30, 60, 90min, etc.)

- Each steel section dimension (i.e. 254x146x37 UB)

- Quantity and length of each section (or overall meterage for each section)

- Orientation (horizontal or vertical)

- Number of sides to be painted (all sides, 3 sides, 1 flange, etc.)

- Structural Steel Design Code (i.e. EuroCode, BS5950, BS476; Part 21, etc.)

- Building type (i.e. office, domestic, storage, etc.)

- Environment (internal, external, car park, chemical exposure, etc.)

- Application on site or in shop

Alternatively you can just forward us drawings, fabrication/cutting lists and we'll extract the information from them but in that instance we'd need some guidance as to what to allow for i.e. all steels on first floor, etc.

We have an ugly white fire board that has been put between our oil tank and the fence and would like to paint it to blend in with the garden. Can you recommend a fire retardant paint we could use please? . . .

We would recommend to consult building control and the manufacturer of the fire board to ascertain if it can be painted without affecting the boards fire rating.

Also what level of fire protection any possible coating for the board would require if any.

My decorator has used the Thermoguard 30 minute Timber protection system which delivers an off white finish? Can we use A Dulux Silk finish top coat to delver a whiter white to match other woodwork without diminshing fire retardanc . . .

Unfortunately no, this system can only be over painted with the manufacturers approved topcoat below assuming the system was applied to timber but not doors.

This can be mixed to many RAL, NCS or BS colours.
