Hi, I am looking for a matt black, heat resistant paint for a 45mm thick hardwood door. The sun shines directly on the door to such an extent that the door gets too hot to touch. The existing paint has blistered and we want to avoid the door warping because of the dark paint on the door. Do you have any suggestions? Many thanks Fiona Lamb

Unfortunately we do not have a product to recommend that is heat resistant or reflective for this application.

Painting the door in a lighter colour would assist in reducing the heat.

Assuming the blistered, loose material is removed, the door is clean dry and sound we can recommend Zinsser Cover Stain followed by two coats of Zinsser AllCoat Exterior.

This is available in many RAL and BS colours in a matt, satin or gloss finish.
