Hi , I’ve had some paint off you in the past. I’m looking for some heat resistant paint that I can use on some projects at home, making bbq’s & out door wood burners from up cycled gas bottles. Now the paint I’ve used peels off ( up to 650 degrees, I fired them up first and cleaned the outside with wire brush on a grinder, but the bottles seem to be galvanised. Can you help or recommend a way / paint that won’t peel off at high temperatures. Regards, Gareth
Galvanized steel is suitable for high-temperature applications of up to 392 °F (200 °C). Use at temperatures above this level will result in peeling of the zinc at the intermetallic layer.
As such whatever paint you apply will also peel off with the zinc.
If the bottles were steel and not galvanised, subjected to continuous temperatures lower than 650°C and peak temperatures no higher 750°C we can recommend Rust-Oleum Heat Resistant Paint 750°C.
