The paint above my glassed in gas fireplace has discoloring. I live in a new condominium and the prior resident did not have this problem. Prior to my moving in the unit was painted. Directly above the fireplace where the wall gets hot the white wall has now become discolored. I don’t think it’s soot because it’s my understanding that soot settles on cool surfaces. I haven’t noticed any smell fumes or otherwise. Any advice? Should I use a high heat paint? Is high heat paint just for metal etc?? It is a flat wall either Sheetrock or cement board I don’t know.
