Need Help?

I am repairing a concrete balcony with damaged reinforced vertical columns. The structural engineer has instructed me to paint and stabilise the corroded re-bars, then repair and fill the concrete columns holes and cracks. Please can you suggest suitable materials for this job. If I purchase the materials today what is the delivery time. Regards Dave Jermy

We would recommend the following;

  • Break out defective concrete
  • Remove any loose/friable material
  • Clean all corroded steel to SA2.5 (bright steel)
  • Immediately apply a layer of Sika MonoTop 610 to cleaned steel
  • Once 1st coat has stiffened (circa 30mins), apply 2nd coat of Sika MonoTop 610 to steel and surrounding broken out concrete, ensuring an even coat to all broken out areas.
  • Once stiffened and matted off, build the repair section back up using Sika MonoTop 612 (for all structural repairs) or Sika MonoTop 615 (where no structural requirements are needed).
  • For any small blowholes/pin holes a skim coat of Sika MonoTop 620 could be applied.
