We are a museum in Seaford which is around 50 metres from the sea. The museum has metal fire doors that are exposed to the harsh conditions of the proximity of the sea. Can you please advise the best paint and undercoat for these conditions.
We would suggest Rust-Oleum 9200 Rust-O-Thane - Remove grease, oil and all other surface contamination using alkaline or high pressure (steam) cleaning in combination with appropriate detergents. Sand previous coatings that are in good condition to remove gloss and to roughen the surface slightly. Assure that the previous coating is compatible with Rust-Oleum 9200 Rust-O-Thane by making a test application. Remove bad adhering coatings by scraping, wire brushing or sanding. (Spot)prime with recommended Rust-Oleum or Mathys coatings. The surface must be clean and dry during application.
