Need Help?

Hi, I am making a hot tub cover from 25mm marine plywood and need something to seal the ply against the rising steam. Epoxy resin has been suggested but the weather is so cool this year it would be difficult to work with epoxy. (Not rising above 11 degrees C in the 10 day forecast). I particularly need to seal all the cut edges of the ply. How about yacht varnish and steam?

Assuming the plywood is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet you could consider Coo-Var Swimming Pool Paint.

The plywood would need to be degreased, sanded prior to applying a coat thinned 10% with Teamac Thinner 15

Followed by two coats unthinned.

This is available in a range of colours in a gloss finish.
