Need Help?

Hi, I am planning to paint over stained hardwood frames (previously painted with Sadolin wood stain/varnish) and just want to know what prep is required before using your water or solvent based exterior paint (slate grey). I am assuming it will need rubbing down, but will it need a primer?

Once the areas have been thoroughly cleaned and degreased and lightly abraded, we would recommend the stained areas are primed using the Zinsser Cover Stain.

Followed by two coats of the Zinsser Allcoat Exterior (Water Based) in Matt, Satin or Gloss.
