Hi. I have most of a tin of Peel Stop. Can I use the rest of the tin on a galvanised and painted garage door. Reason for asking. The surface is some years old Dulux WeatherShield and every time I try to wash it the blue colour comes away on the cloth. If Peel stop would help, what gloss finish would you recommend? Colour I want is navy blue Many thanks Phil Coupe
Unfortunately no, Zinsser Peel Stop is not recommend for use on galvanised steel.
Assuming all damaged, loose or flaking paint is removed, the galvanised door is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet you could consider Rust-Oleum 3302 CombiPrimer Adhesion Primer for the bare galvanised areas, followed by two coats of Rust-Oleum CombiColor Original.
This can be mixed to many RAL, NCS or BS colours in a satin or gloss finish.
We would recommend on previously painted areas to test on a small area prior to full application for compatibility and adhesion.
