For an enamel paint suitable for application to steel you could consider Teamac Metalcote Plant Enamel.

The steel post must be clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet. 

If it is bare steel we would recommend priming first with Teamac Zinc Phosphate Primer.
