I need to paint the White Polycarbonate casing for a parasol LED light (approx. 350mm by 35mm by 20mm). This needs to be black. Once painted the Lamp will be relatively close to a heater so heat resistance is desired. Abrasion could be possible when the parasol is closing. We have stated to the customer that there will be no guarantee of finish but are keen to meet their needs as well as possible.
Assuming the polycarbonate is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet we can recommend Kolorbond K2 Set.
This can be mixed to many RAL, NCS or BS colours in a range of finishes for spray application.
We would recommend testing for compatibility and adhesion on a small area prior to full application as if the plastic has been produced in layers it is possible that the solvents in the K2 may craze the surface of the polycarbonate.
If the polycarbonate is not resistant to solvent crazing the alternative will be Kolorbond Aquatek.
