Technical and Specialist Knowledge
There are vast types of paints available for all sorts of specialist projects. We have tried to simplify your search on our website with comprehensive categories and sub-categories.
If there is a specific paint or use you are looking for, you can also use the ‘Search’ tool which will prompt/suggest products you may be looking for.
Each header has a dropdown box, and then each category has further subcategories that appear to the right when the cursor is hovered over the category name.
We have a designated ‘Wood Finishes’ category under ‘Paints & Coatings that categorises our wood stains, oils, varnishes, and paints further into maintenence, pre-treatment, preparation, and protection, for:
- Exterior wood surfaces:
- Barns and farms
- Cladding
- Decking
- Garden furniture
- Joinery (windows and doors)
- Shed, fence, and summerhouse
- Interior wood surfaces:
- Doors and trim
- Floors
- Furniture
- Walls and ceilings
- Worktops and tabletops
- Industrial products:
- Acid catalysed
- Pre-catalysed
We stock a comprehensive range of wood varnishes, stains, oils, protective finishes, and wood paint for both interior and exterior uses – pretty much every project you can think of is covered by a product in our range. Whatever you need, we can provide advice on the best wood finish to use, from heavy duty floor varnish to opaque wood paint, decking oil to Danish oil, and water-based or solvent-based.
A primer is a preparatory product. It creates an extra layer between your paint and the substrate, helping it last longer, bond better and often smoothing out the surface for optimum lifespan and performance. To look at it a different way, makeup primers are used for the same purpose in cosmetics!
Primers can also be used to add more specific extra protection, such as using a UV primer, a waterproofing primer or a penetrating primer.
A paint system is where several layers are applied in a specific order to achieve the desired effect. Each layer serves a purpose, or has its own role, and results in the best possible all-round protection. You will also hear the term ‘coating system’ which is the same.
You will see paint systems described in our products by how many layers make up their system.

Assuming the floor tiles are ceramic, clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the Technical Data Sheet we can recommend Smartkote Protectakote UVR Smooth for a smooth finish or Smartkote Safekote if an anti-slip finish is required.
These are both available in clear or a selection of colours.
The tiles must be primed prior to application with Smartkote Protectakote Clear Primer Treatment.
A product data sheet explains the makeup of the paint or coating and should give detailed advice on application, preparation, cleaning and safety (though the latter has its own designated sheet).
We always recommend all product data sheets are downloaded for the product(s) purchased, as direction should be offered on how to correctly apply what has been bought.
Further important information such as suggested thickness of coatings, estimated coverage, drying time, finish, packaging, performance, purpose, characteristics, environmental impact, tools and methods, should all be supplied by the manufacturer.
I'm afraid we do not supply doors so cannot offer any assistance.

We would recommend to test for compatibility and adhesion with the applied wood dye is done on a small area prior to full application.
Rust-Oleum CombiColor Original is heat resistant up to 90°C (dry heat), so as long as the surfaces being painted didn't exceed this temperature it should be OK.
Rust-Oleum CombiColor is however an industrial product designed for exterior use or interior use in industrial environments so it is not specifically intended for internal home use and will smell during curing.
As we don’t know what actual surface temperature the storage heaters will get up to we can’t say for sure if the paint will be OK on any particular storage heater, it could depend on the model, type etc.
You will need to check with the manufacturer to find out what the surface temperature of their particular heater will get to during use.
Thank you for the enquiry, unfortunately this is not a paint we stock and have no information regarding this product.
I'm afraid we cannot provide colour charts but you can view available colours, pack sizes and prices when viewing Teamac Chlorvar Chlorinated Rubber on our site.
Assuming the floors are bare concrete and the lines not subjected to heavy vehicle/forklift truck traffic we can recommend Ennis-Flint Cataphos Chlorinated Rubber Premium.

Bare wood, or untreated wood, would normally be primed before painting. Most paints require a smooth, clean surface to perform optimally, and untreated wood is neither of these things. Unfinished wood is also very dry, which means your paint is likely to be soaked up quickly.
In short, if you were to paint onto wood without using a primer, it will probably take a few coats and may look fine. But if you want longevity out of your project and the best possible conclusion, use a primer first.
Thank you for the enquiry, we have contacted you directly for more information.
Assuming the powdercoat is a polyester, the log store is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the Technical Data Sheet we can recommend Rust-Oleum CombiColor Original. This is available in many RAL and BS colours in a satin or gloss finish.
KoverTek TekPur Waterproof Balcony Kits provide a high performance, waterproof, anti-slip coating ideal for small balcony, roof terrace, steps, ramps, bridges and walkway areas receiving foot traffic. As well as the (2 part) TekPur Polyurethane Waterproof Coating, each kit also includes primer, application equipment (brush/roller/gloves) and Anti-Skid additive suitable for 7.5m², 14m², 22m² or 30m² areas.
Unfortunately we currently wouldn't have anything in clear we could recommend for application on to bare metal.
We'd recommend Technispray Kolorbond Aquatek for your application - it is available in 2,400+ RAL, NCS, and British Standard colours for uPVC, PVC, and composite, including Chartwell Green and RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey.
The coating chemically bonds with the surface and gives protection from the ultraviolet radiation of the sun. Guaranteed adhesion for 10 years, with 5 years guarantee on colour fastness.
We also have uPVC Painting Kits with the correct amounts of Kolorbond and preparation products for paiting uPVC, PVC, and composite surfaces such as doors and windows, with pack sizes dependant on the scale of the job. These are also available in 2,400+ RAL, NCS, and British Standard colours, including Chartwell Green and RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey.
Rust-Oleum Heat Resistant Paint 750°C can withstand continuous temperatures up to 650°C and peak temperatures up to 750°C without failing. The stainless steel would need abrading to create a key for the paint to adhere. The coating has not been tested for use to absorb heat so we wouldn't be able to confirm if it would be entirely suitable for your application.
Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde Peganox can be applied directly on to galvanised steel once it has been degreased and is dry. It is available in RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey but only in an attractive Satin Gloss finish, not Matt i'm afraid.
Sometimes...
If a metal is being painted for the first time or will likely be prone to oxidisation, then a primer is highly recommended. It will combat corrosion and rust. Again, if it is in any sort of disrepute, flaking or rusted then a primer is essential when addressing the longevity of your project.
There will be situations when a metal primer may not be essential. If your paint already on the metal is in good condition and you are simply adding another coat, the properties that prevent moisture seeping in would appear to be in play. Stainless steel has compounds that combat oxidation.
However! Primer is there for a reason. It bonds to the substrate better than topcoats, it will prevent rusting and flaking that may occur earlier without its presence. Not using primer is a chance to cut a corner that may end up costing you a lot more when the job does not last as long.
There are also some excellent direct to metal paints available now and when circumstances permit these can be an excellent option to save time and money.
Due to their components, some paints are made up of ingredients that can prevent wood from cracking, peeling, blistering, and combat dirt. They can also protect from frost and repel water, stop greying with UV protection – paint technology has become highly advanced.
Look through our wood finishes and choose the product with the components you require
Paint prevents the oxidisation process in various ways using varying technologies. In its simplest form iron rusts when it comes into contact with water or moisture in the air. The metal takes the oxygen from the water and creates iron oxide – which is rust. Paint seals and protects the surface of the metal, disabling water the opportunity to react with oxygen.
The simple answer would be use a primer when painting on a surface for the first time and an undercoat when the surface has been previously painted. However, it is never that black and white.
Undercoats, often used on wood, are a little denser than primers and are intended to produce a smooth, even surface for the topcoat. In tandem with the topcoat, they can produce a really good looking finish.
Primers primarily heighten the bonding process, seal and well, prime, for the topcoat! They can offer extra ingredients such as additional UV protection, waterproofing, or extra penetration. Primers promote surface wetting and bonding with formulas specific to the topcoat in question. This is why you are always advised to use the topcoat manufacturer’s recommended primer.
This is where the Product Data Sheet (also explained in our FAQs) really becomes useful. Every paint comes with a data sheet that must estimate the coverage and advise on thickness where applicable. We at Rawlins Paints also offer this information at the bottom of each online product page. This coverage estimate allows you to work out how much paint you should need for your project.
Insulation paint, or thermal paint, creates a vacuum layer that deters heat or cold from travelling through your walls. This can be in a powdered form where tiny hollow beads (hollow ceramic microspheres to be specific) reduce the speed of heat transfer by trapping air – the same concept of any insulation.
It is a hotly debated topic, as there is no real way of measuring the effects of this – at least comparing it - and when it gets to saving money, people want numbers.
Manufacturers in the United States made the arguable error of mentioning NASA’s involvement in the testing of thermal insulation paint. Whilst this appears to have been the case, “NASA approved” or “NASA tested” is a tagline all too readily used by varying products in numerous markets and often without foundation.
There is no doubting that some thermal paints can reduce dramatic heat transfer by repelling UV rays hitting the front of a home or ensuring that water permeates the exterior.
In short, insulating paint does not claim to be a suitable replacement for traditional insulation, but it is certainly beneficial.
A high build paint’s formula allows it to create a much thicker coating in just one or two coats. This means that you have superior surface protection in less time. In short, a high build paint has a higher solid content.
High build paint is sought after as it offers incredibly good water resistance (it is thicker so more impermeable), has better crack-bridging properties (again, thicker), has better hiding properties (it is thicker), and is more resistant to heavy foot traffic (you guessed it, it’s thicker).
It wouldn’t be disastrous, but why would you?
Exterior paints are created to combat the elements. Ergo they have the additives desired for this purpose. They can be dirt resistant, crack resistant, flaking resistant, and weather resistant! They are compiled to combat temperature changes, humidity and freeze.
The pigmentation of exterior paint is much more suited to the outdoors. Any components known to fade under UV rays for example, will be avoided.
Exterior paints have binders aimed to repel cracking and blistering brought on by weathering and work hard to ensure moisture does not soak into the substrate.
Blackfriar Professional Polyurethane Floor Paint comes in small 1 litre tins which would be plenty for 2m² but we would suggest you check with the manufacturer of the levelling compound you have used that it can be over painted first.
We would recommend Rust-Oleum 7200 Floorcoat PU.
Unfortunately we wouldn't have anything to offer for this application.
We have nothing guaranteed to work on this kind of surface but our best recommendation to trial would be Smartkote Safekote.
We can produce our 204 Fine Crack Repair product in RAL or BS colours if you could advise which would match your colours required the closest?
Unfortunately due to the temperatures involved we wouldn't have anything for this application.
Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde Peganox would be an ideal product to consider, however although it is waterbased this still doesn't mean you are safe to allow it to enter the water during application. This will be the same for any paint, single pack water based paints will likely be less toxic than other solvent or two pack alternatives but precautions will still need to be taken during application and drying.
Jotun Solvalitt is the highest temperature white we offer at 600°C.
We would recommend Jotun Jotamastic 90 for this application.
We would need to know what the existing floor requiring to be painted currently is - i.e. tiles, linoleum, etc.
Thank you for your enquiry, could you advise if the preparation could be improved to sa2.5 and whether you require Potable water standard?
Assuming this is for a floor area, 304 HD Epoxy Floor Coating would be suitable if it’s splashes and spillages only. If regular contact is expected then we would instead suggest 310 Chemical Resistant Coating.
Rust-Oleum CombiColor is heat resistant up to 90°C (dry heat), so as long as the surfaces being painted don't exceed this temperature it will be fine.
We would suggest Thermilate InsOpaint Interior Emulsion.
We would suggest RSL Resucoat HB for this application. Download the 'HB System Guide' from the Attachments tab on the product page for full details. If you are happy with this system please contact our Technical Team on 0113 2455450 (option 2) or [email protected] for special pricing on your project.
We do a lot of professional use coatings that would be able to withstand this type of application but nothing for domestic use unfortunately.
Heskins Permastripe would be an excellent alternative to paint or aerosols for you.
Degrease and derust substrate according to the conventional derusting techniques (sandblasting Sa2 and mechanical sanding St3) and then apply Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde Pegarust.
We would suggest using Teamac Marine Matting Agent with Teamac Marine Gloss to produce the finish you desire, subject to the Marine Gloss being suitable for the substrate it is to be applied to.
Our Anti-Slip Flat Plate is popular for this type of application. If you specifically require a paint coating and not a GRP solution please contact our Technical Team on 0113 2455450 (option 2) so we can discuss your requirements in more depth and advise on a system to suit your needs.
Unfortunately we do not offer any heat resistant paints in cream.
We would require more information on this application to be able to advise, please contact our Technical Team on 0113 2455450 (option 2).
We would suggest Coo-Var Anti-Slip Acrylic Floor Paint for this application.
You must remove all of the 'normal garage floor paint' back down to the sound, existing epoxy coating layer. Clean and abrade to provide a key and then apply more epoxy such as 304 HD Epoxy Floor Coating.
Colours are generally limited in the heat resistant paint range to basic colours such as grey, white, aluminium and black which are not produced usually to any specific RAL references. The highest temperature system we could offer would be OK up to 120°C maximum - this would consist of Sherwin-Williams Macropoxy M902 followed by Sherwin-Williams Acrolon C137V2 or Sherwin-Williams Acrolon C237 in the RAL colour of your choice.
We would suggest testing this system for your requirements before carrying out the whole project to ensure performance is satisfactory and adequate adhesion can be achieved to the aluminium.
Yes, we also offer trims for systems such as Bullet Roof Mono.
Assuming you just wish to paint the exterior surfaces which will not exceed temperatures of 60-70°C and not come into contact with food we would suggest any of the Zinsser AllCoat Exterior (Water Based) range.
Thermilate is the only range of insulating paints available.
We don’t recommend any of our products for domestic limestone flooring situations. Limestone can be quite soft and any coating is likely to flake off under foot traffic. A specialist tile supplier may be able to advise the best options.
We would recommend Thermoguard Timbercoat 30 & 60 Minute System for this application which is available in any standard RAL or BS colour and in either a matt or an eggshell finish.
Teamac Chlorvar Chlorinated Rubber is suitable for application on ceilings and walls and would be suitable for direct contact with chlorinated water.
Rust-Oleum Heat Resistant Paint 750°C is applied directly to metal and can withstand temperatures up to 750°C. it is touch dry in 2 hours at 20°C but reaches its full cure when it achieves a minimum of 150°C.
Please read our blog post on Painting the Walls around a Fireplace or Multi Fuel Stove
We currently have nothing we can offer for application on to plastic surfaces to offer a level of fire protection.
We would suggest Zinsser AllCoat Exterior Satin (Water Based), apply at least 2 coats. It should adhere OK and provide a protective layer over the foam.
We currently have 3 products on the website that may be suitable for your application however ideally we would need some further information to ascertain which would be best for you to try - i.e. surface preparation, pressures, temperatures, required curing times, etc.
The options are as follows but we would suggest contacting our Technical Team on 0113 2455450 (option 2) to discuss further before committing to any.
PPG SigmaFast 205 LT is for shop application on blasted steelwork not repair.
We would instead suggest the following:
- 1st Coat PPG SigmaCover 350 Aluminium
- 2nd Coat PPG SigmaCover 350
- 3rd Coat PPG SigmaDur 550 H
Britannia Aquashield High Build is an excellent waterproofing coating for exterior pitched or flat roofs.
Coo-Var Vandalene Anti Climb Paint could be used anywhere which may be used as a grip point to gain unauthorised access - i.e. ledges, down pipes, walls, gutters, etc.
If used, notification signs should be displayed and the product should not be applied to areas lower than 7 feet from the ground.
After any necessary cleaning, repairs, etc. are carried out, surfaces can be sealed and waterproofed with Smartkote Protectakote UVR. It is single component, easy to use, anti-slip and dries in 2 hours per coat which can even be accelerated with Smartkote Protectakote UVR Accelerator if required. Slip resistance can also be increased if desired with the addition of Smartkote Protectakote Safety Grip.
Assuming good condition, sound, bare concrete, you would apply 1 coat of Smartkote EP90 Universal Epoxy Primer at 6m² per litre, followed by 2 coats of Smartkote Protectakote UVR in the colour of your choice at 4m² per litre/per coat.
Other priming possibilities are;
- Porous tiles - 1 coat of Smartkote EP90 Universal Epoxy Primer
- Sound paint - remove gloss if present, clean with solvent and apply direct
- Glazed tiles – prime with Smartkote Protectakote Clear Primer Treatment and apply 2 coats of Protectakote UVR Smooth Clear (if the tile’s appearance is to be retained) or colour of your choice if not.
Areas requiring a smooth finish instead of a textured, anti-slip profile - we have a non-textured version of Protectakote UVR merely called ‘Smartkote Protectakote UVR Smooth’ which can be switched out to replace the Protectakote UVR in any of the scenarios above if required. Applying a 'thin coat' of Protectakote UVR Smooth over any installations of Protectakote UVR also seals, extends the life and makes it easier to clean.
Unfortunately we wouldn't have anything suitable for this application.
PPG Hi-Temp 1027 can be applied direct to substrates at temperature ranging from 10°C (50°F) to 316°C (600°F). Once applied and cured it can withstand continuous temperature resistance to 650°C (1200°F) and intermittent temperature resistance to 760°C (1400°F). This product offers the highest temperature during applicaiton we can offer.
There is a wide range of topcoats and it’s all about expectations. The datasheet has a list of suitable topcoats (page 3) but there are others. A selection of products suitable to overcoat International Interzinc 42 are as follows;
After preparation as per the product data sheets, if the metal is rusted we would recommend Rust-Oleum 769/780 Damp-Proof Rust Primer, if bare ferrous metal then Rust-Oleum 1060/1080 High Build Metal Primer, if galvanised steel, stainless steel, aluminium other smooth, dense surface then Rust-Oleum 3202 Galvinoleum Primer.
Follow all with Rust-Oleum 7500 Alkythane in the colour and finish of your choice.
We would suggest a combination of Hydron AG4 Graffiti Remover and Hydron SL1 Shadow Lifter.
Obviously we don't know what you're wanting to use the product for but Zinsser AllCoat Exterior Gloss (Water Based) may be a good place to start - this gives you a water based product in a gloss finish that can be used internally or externally on a wide range of substrates in nearly any colour.
Our range of Anti-Climb paints can be found HERE - none are available in clear.
We have had good success in wet rooms previously with Smartkote Safekote, however you would need to carry out a trial area to ensure compatability, appearance, adhesion, etc. prior to applying to the full area.
We would recommend 304 HD Epoxy Floor Coating as a good place to start, from here you can then contact our Technical Team on 0113 2455450 (option 2) or [email protected] to discuss further.
The heat resistant paints we offer that can withstand this temperature are only available in black or silver.
The code you have referenced we do not recognise but we do offer Hydron Nu-Guard AG which is available in clear or range of coloured finishes which may suit your requirements.
Rust-Oleum 7200 Floorcoat PU is available in a Satin or Gloss finish in any colour that can be applied directly to wooden floors in two coats (thin the 1st coat 5% with Rust-Oleum Thinner 633). Rust-Oleum Non-Skid Additive NS 100 can be added if desired to produce a subtle non-skid surface, that is not harmful when falling on the floor and easier to clean than coarse anti-slip floors.
We could recommend our 310 Chemical Resistant Coating for your application.
Bradite Poly Lacquer is a popular product for table tops depending on what they are made from. We would ususally suggest after preparation that 2 coats of colour were applied followed by at least one coat of the same product in clear to help protect from scratches, discolouration, damage, etc.
Magpaint Europe Magnet Paint For Pros can be applied directly to wood, MDF and Gypsum cardboard. After applying a minimum of three layers, the MagnetPaint can be overcoated with any conventional type of water-based wall paint.
For best results, use with Magpaint Europe Neodymium Magnets.
Surface Preparation
The substrate shall be prepared by industrial floor cleaning and degreasing as well as mechanical means which is suitable to remove all contaminants and weakness to give a clean, sound load-bearing surface.
Priming
Prime all areas with Remmers Epoxy FAS 100 by roller to seal the surface.
Butted joints are best scratched out with Remmers Epoxy MT 100 mixed with Remmers Add TX and applied like a paste and scraped into the joints and over any screw fixings.
We would then recommend a thin layer (approx. 1mm thick) of Remmers PUR Indu Color N over all areas. The purpose is to try and remove any edges and level out the surface before the 2mm Remmers PUR Indu Color N is applied.
Self Smoothing Body Coat
The primed surface is overlaid with Remmers PUR Indu Color N filled with Remmers Quartz 01/03 at 1:0.5 as flow system to the desired thickness. Apply by trowel and spike roller in two directions to release air and give a smooth surface.
Seal Coats for UV stability, scuff, scratch and slip resistance
Seal the surface in the desired finish with 1 coat of Remmers PUR Aqua Color Top 2K M and 1 clear coat of Remmers PUR Aqua Top 2K M Plus.
Assuming application will be to mild steel and the service environment will be an exterior industrial setting (no more than corrosive category C4 ISO 12944-5) we would recommend;
- Prime with Carboline Carbozinc 11 @ 70µm DFT
- Topcoat with Carboline Thermaline 4900 in RAL 7034 Yellow Grey @ 50µm (apply a mist coat prior to full coat to seal the Carbozinc 11)
We would suggest trying Hydron Nu-Guard AG for this.
We would require more information on this project as we would normally not recommend epoxies for wood due to their lack of flexibility. Please contact our Technical Team on 0113 2455450 (option 2) to discuss.
Could you advise which product you are enquiring about please?
We would suggest priming first with GacoFlex E5320 2-Part Epoxy Primer/Filler followed by GacoFlex SF2036 WalkPad incorporating GacoFlex WalkPad Granules.
We'd recommend 1 coat of Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 as a primer followed by 2 coats of Zinsser Perma-White Interior in either Matt or Satin.
We would always recommend a minimum of 2 coats of Rust-Oleum CombiColor whether applying directly to bare, prepared steel or previously painted surfaces. The 2 coats would provide the durability from the product but extra coats may be required to achieve the desired finish colour depending on the colour you are overcoating.
Smartkote Safekote is widely used for application on wet room floors. A primer may be required and would be determined by the surface that you are applying the coating to.
Jotun Solvalitt (Black) and Jotun Solvalitt Alu (Aluminium) offer heat resistance up to 600°C and can be applied to stainless steel once prepared.
The existing varnish will need abrading to create a key before applying Rust-Oleum 4900 Polycoat 2K.
Smartkote Safekote can be applied to sound concrete surfaces to provide a durable, slip resistant and easy to clean surface. If the concrete is weak or damp then we would recommend a primer coat of Duram Duraprime before applying the 2-3 coats of Safekote.
Assuming the walls are previously painted you could apply 2 coats of Rust-Oleum 9200 Rust-O-Thane which would offer an abrasion resistant, easily cleanable finish available in most RAL and BS colours.
We wouldn't have any products we could recommend for this application currently.
No, however if you contact our Technical Department on 0113 2455450 (option 2) we maybe able to assist you with your project with an alternative product/system.
Not usually, however we do have various options which could provide a coloured finish. For more information, please contact our Technical Team with further details of your requirements on 0113 2455450 (option 2).
No, you would instead need to re-position the heater or protect the roof with a solid material that could insulate the roof from the heat.
We would instead recommend Coo-Var Acrylic W/B Road Line Paint for marking wood surfaces.
Rust-Oleum CombiColor in Gold can withstand temperatures up to 90°C (dry heat), at elevated temperatures discoloration may occur.
Try Rust-Oleum Heat Resistant Paint 750°C, which is available in Black or Aluminium colours and can operate at continuous temperatures up to 600°C (dry heat) and short term peak 750°C (dry heat).
Yes, Wethertex ST1 Quick Dry Stabilising Primer followed by Wethertex AP77 Flexible Smooth Masonry Paint is suitable for bare sandstone surfaces.
Assuming it is not to seal it from a leak (this should be done with a roofing product from the topside), we would suggest Thermoguard Asbestos Encapsulating Coating.
Please contact our Technical Team with more details on the exact cladding type on 0113 2455450 (option 2) or [email protected]
Typical specification onto unpainted render
Following the pre-treatment: If the substrate is porous, first coat Keim Royalan Dilution at 0.15 lt per square metre to help reduce any high surface porosity. If the substrate is not porous, straight into the system below:
First Coat: Keim Royalan diluted with approximately 20% by weight Keim Royalan Dilution
- Royalan 0.2kg/m²
- Dilution 0.04lt/m²
Second Coat: Keim Royalan, no dilution
Keim Royalan 0.2kg/m²
Typical specification onto previously painted render
Following the pre-treatment:
First Coat: Keim Royalan Grob diluted with approximately 20% by weight Keim Royalan Dilution
- Royalan 0.2kg/m²
- Dilution 0.04lt/m²
Second Coat Keim Royalan, no dilution
- Keim Royalan 0.2kg/m²
We would recommend cleaning surface with Keim Algicid Plus and then Keim Lotexan is applied.
RAL 2005 is a fluorescent orange colour, to get close to this colour on metal we can recommend HMG Synthetic Fluorescent which is available in 2 fluorescent orange colours. The (ferrous) metal should be first primed with HMG Synthetic BDX Primer in Off White and then HMG Marine Varnish over HMG Synthetic Fluorescent to attain gloss, improve durability and help protect against UV degradation.
We are not aware of 'polyroof' so could only suggest trying something like Tor Elastadeck Walkway Topcoat. We would suggest carrying out a trial area to ensure adhesion and compatibility.
As a rule, we don't advocate the use of rust converters in lieu of correction preparation methods. So our advice would instead to be to prepare the chequer plate adequately using manual, mechanical means and prime with Rust-Oleum 9169 Epoxy Rust Primer, apply and intermediate coat of Rust-Oleum 9100 High Performance Epoxy and then finish with either Rust-Oleum 9200 Rust-O-Thane or Rust-Oleum 9600 Rust-O-Thane Polyurethane in the colour of your choice.
Slip resistance can be enhanced if required by the addition of Rust-Oleum Non-Skid Additive NS 200.
Rust-Oleum CombiColor Original is not technically designed for application on vehicles but is used widely in the brush/roller hobby market for DIY projects on camper vans, classic cars, etc.
Alternatively you can see our range of dedicated automtive paints HERE
We would recommend Jotun Demidekk Ultimate Windows and Doors, download the product data sheet for details on preparation and application from the 'Attachments' tab on the product page.
For this application we can recommend Jotun Tankguard DW.
The project will require 300 microns of Tankguard DW.
Please follow the rules in the Application Guide. This can be found in the Attachment tab on the product page.
It must be done correctly including blasting, proper application, overcoating intervals, drying, curing all done with constant ventilation, control of humidity and heating if necessary.
We stock many Food Safe paints, but unfortunately none of these are available in aerosol form.
If you would like further assistance with the project please contact our Technical team on 0113 2455450 option 2.
Please see or TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE page for Returns information.
Assuming you are looking for a food safe hygenic paint we can recommend Rust-Oleum 8700 Hygienic Acrylic Topcoat.
For this application you will also require Rust-Oleum 8798 Hygienic Acrylic Primer.
Prior to application remove grease, oil and all other surface contaminations by alkaline or high pressure- (steam) cleaning in combination with appropriate detergents.
New concrete, plaster or brick surfaces should cure and dry for at least 30 days prior to application of the coating.
Remove contamination with RUST-OLEUM ND14. Wash surface with plenty of fresh/warm water or high pressure- (steam) cleaning in order to remove all remnants of contamination and cleaners.
Remove deteriorated coatings by scraping and wire brushing. Sand intact coatings to roughen the surface slightly. The surface must be clean and may be slightly damp during application.
Depending on the project requirements the product we can recommend will vary, however Wethertex OT25 Wood-Flex Satin Opaque Timber Paint would be a good product to consider initialy. To discuss further, please contact our Technical team on 0113 2545450 option 2 and we can assist you.
Unfortunately the heat resistant paints we offer are primarily for industrial/professional use so wouldn't be suitable for this type of application.
Assuming you are looking for a hygienic wall paint but not fire resistant we can recommend Rust-Oleum 8300 Hygienic Topcoat.
This protects walls and ceilings against mild chemical exposure, occasional product spillage, frequent chemical cleaning, intermittent high humidity and moisture with heat resistance upto 80°c dry heat.
For assistance with Fire Protection Paints, please contact our Technical team on 0113 2455450 (option 2).
Many of our stocked paints are available in RAL 3000 Flame Red.
For a recommendation to the projects requirements please call out Technical team on 0113 2455450 option 2.
Unfortunately we don't offer anything comparable to 'snowcem' anymore. We would suggest contacting our Technical Team to discuss your requirements on 0113 2455450 (option 2).
Assuming the substrate is new or shot-blasted steel, or a well pre-treated coated surface not subject to temperatures consistantly over 650°c and will not be subject to direct contact with food or flames this paint will suitable for these applications.
The manufacturer does not produce tester pots, the smallest size available is a 750ml tin, this product is solvent based and application is by brush or roller only.
If you would like a water based product that can be applied by spray see instead Blackfriar High-Heat Resistant Paint.
For this application we can recommend Rust-Oleum Mathys Pegasol Quartz.
If the surface is porous first prime with Rust-Oleum Mathys Primer 44 HS.
Unforunately we don't offer any floor coatings that would offer insulation properties to this type of application.
Unfortunately we don't offer any heat resistant paints for timber. We offer fire retardant paints for wood but these wouldn't be classed as 'food grade'.
The chlorinated rubber could potentially react with the previous coating, but if it is compatible then something like Teamac Chlorvar Chlorinated Rubber Paint would be a good choice.
You would have to do a test area, if the previous coating has been on there a while, it will probably be ok.
Ideally we would need to know more information about the intended final use of the object/surface you are intending to paint to be able to advise fully. However, Jotun Jotamastic Smart Pack HB followed by Jotun Hardtop Smart Pack are two pack coatings specifically designed for brush/roller application to metal.
We can recommend 503 Easy Clean Anti Slip Coating. Download the Product Data Sheet from the 'Attachments' tab to see details on preparation and application.
We can only offer black or aluminium colours for this application.
We wouldn’t normally recommend applying a single pack product over a 2 pack product as we cannot guarantee adhesion.
The existing 2 pack would need to be abraded prior to application of another coating but we would recommend using something like Rust-Oleum 9200 Rust-O-Thane or Rust-Oleum 9600 Rust-O-Thane Polyurethane instead, these are both 2 pack and likely to be more compatible subject to testing on a small area prior to full application.
Please contact Sprayplant UK LTD on 0113 231 0500.
Please see the blog post Painting the Walls around a Fireplace or Multi Fuel Stove for details and recommended products for this application.
Substrate and primer requirements are in the Technical Data Sheet, this can be found in the data sheet tab on the product page.
See our blog post, What’s The Difference Between Satin and Gloss Paint?, which explains "a satin finish will leave you with a medium gloss, that doesn’t shine as much as gloss paint as it’s less reflective."
Many of our stocked product that are suitable for tinting can be mixed to most RAL and BS colours.
For the framework we could recommend Rust-Oleum CombiColor Original but for the engine parts I would assume a heat resistant paint would be required so we'd have nothing we could recommend for HVLP spray on these parts.
Once the floor is clean and dry we'd recommend Rust-Oleum 3333 Super Adhesion Primer followed by 2 coats of Rust-Oleum 9200 Rust-O-Thane which is available in a satin finish and in any standard RAL or BS colour.
If you require a tie coat for anti-fouling below the waterline then we would recommend Jotun Vinyguard Silvergrey 88 as a tie coat, applying a minimum of 3 brush coats before the anti-fouling. If no anti-fouling is required then you would apply 3 coats of Jotun Jotamastic 90, again 3 brush coats which would then be left as a finish. Above the waterline we would recommend 2 coats of Jotun Jotamastic 90 be applied before your finish coat of Jotun Hardtop CA.
All screeds could have a varied overcoating period so it would be recommended you speak to the manufacturer of the screed that has been used to determine the overcoating time.
If the walls are not in direct shower stream then we would recommend Zinsser Perma-White Interior. This is suitable for splashes and humid environments but not for direct water contact from the shower head.
Zinsser Allcoat Exterior (Water Based) is not suitable for application on to a floor I'm afraid. I would recommend looking at our Floor Paints section on our website.
Unfortunately we do not have a product to recommend that has an emissions certificate.
We would recommend Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Solvent Based for your application which offers a 15 year life expectancy, available in Gloss or Satin finishes and is tintable in a wide range of colours.
Assuming the substrate is cement based render, clean dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet, Wethertex AP77 Flexible Smooth Masonry Paint could be used.
This a waterproofing breathable masonry paint.
If the building has a lime render we would recommend Keim Soldalit.
Jotun Jotamastic 90 can be applied to manually prepared metal surfaces and offers a durable, corrosion resistant finish available in a wide range of colours.
I'm afraid we currently have no products we could recommend for application on to kitchen worktops in anything other than a black or white finish - this would be Rust-Oleum Worktop Transformation Kits.
The data sheet for all products can be found in the data sheets tab on the product pages.
Assuming you are requesting the Data sheet for HMG M99 Gipgloss Cellulose Enamel plesae follow this link.
Coo-Var Vandalene Anti-Climb Paint Aerosol is generally considered safe to use, however it will be harmful if ingested.
The product is intended to be used on above head height areas (over 7ft) where there would not be legitimate animal or human contact expected.

Assuming the previously painted roof is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet we can recommned Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde Pegarust.
We would recommend testing for compatibility and adhesion on any previously applied paints.
The life span of the paint could be effected by the adhesion of the previous paint coating.
Thank you for the enquiry, unfortunately the manufacturers do not produce a colour chart, but most of our paints can be mixed to many RAL and BS colours.
Swatch charts can be purchased here on the website.
Assuming you are convential spray applying the paint, the UPVC is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet we can recommend the Technispray Kolorbond range.
Technispray Kolorbond Aquatek is waterbased, Technispray Kolorbond Original is solvent based and Technispray Kolorbond K2 Set is a two component option.
Assuming the existing coating is a 2 pack epoxy primer and is beyond it's overcoating period, you would need to mechanically abrade the surface to create a key before applying 2 coats of Rust-Oleum 9200 Rust-O-Thane.
Rust-Oleum Mathys Pegakote can be applied to bare, prepared concrete and would be resistant to solvents and oils. A minimum 2 coat application would be recommended following surface preparation.
Once the substrate has been blasted we would recommend the surface be primed with 2 coats of Teamac Metaclor Antifoulding Primer followed by 2 coats of Teamac Chlorvar Chlorinated Rubber. This must be left then for a minimum of 14 days prior to the vessel going back in the water.
We would need to know what the surface is you are looking to paint so please contact our Technical Team on 0113 245 5450 option 2 with further information.
We would recommend the door be primed with Zinsser Cover Stain before applying 2 coats of Zinsser Perma-White Interior in your chosen colour.
Technispray Kolorbond Aquatek would be recommended for any external application on to PVC as this offers a 10 year adhesion guarantee and 5 year guarantee for colour fastness. The correct preparation would need to be undertaken prior to application of Aquatek to ensure the guarantee can be offered.
Wethertex AP77 Flexible Smooth Masonry Paint is a high performance, matt finish exterior quality flexible masonry paint, developed using Optilife silicone technology for long term protection and peace of mind. Suitable for bonded paint and coatings, render, brick, stone, rough-cast, and other masonry substrates offering up to 20 years of durability.
