Pyroplex Putty Pads are pre-cut ablative pads which have been specifically designed to reinstate the fire performance of compartment walls when penetrated by electrical sockets, thereby reducing the need for additional backing materials. Putty Pads provide a fast, efficient and clean method of achieving the required fire and acoustic ratings as required by Building Regulations Approved Documents.
The product is a non-halogenated silicone based compound with additional fillers and extenders to produce mouldable and non-setting component. The product can be moulded and used internally and externally around the electrical box.
The product has been tested in accordance with BS EN 1364-1, achieving up to 120 minutes fire resistance.

Installation Instructions
Internal
To achieve a high quality seal, ensure the socket is clean and free from any dirt, dust and that it is dry.
- Remove the protective film liner from putty pad.
- Make a slit in the pad which will enable the cable to be passed through.
- Press the pad firmly into the socket recess ensuring full contact is made to all sides.
- Make sure the pad is not damaged or punctured during this process.
- Remove the remaining film liners and trim off any excess material to leave a neat finish.
External
To achieve a high quality seal, ensure the socket is clean and free from any dirt, dust and that it is dry.
- Remove the protective film liner from putty pad.
- Mould the component around the extremities of the box to make an effective seal, trimming an excess of material.

Testing
The product has been tested in accordance with BS EN 1364-1 and the general requirements of BS EN1363-1, achieving up to 120minutes fire resistance. Test report is available upon request.
Structural Constructions
Rigid floors:
The floor must have a minimum thickness of 150mm and comprise of aerated concrete or concrete with a minimum density of 650 kg/m3.
Flexible Walls:
The wall must have a minimum thickness of 130mm and comprise either or timber or steel studs lined on both faces with a minimum 2 layers of 15mm Type F Gypsum boards according to EN520.
In timber stud walls, no part of the penetration shall be closer than 100mm to a stud, and minimum of 100mm of insulation compliant with Class A1 or A2 according to EN13501-1, be provided within the cavity between the penetration and the stud.
