Teamac Rust Converter
This rust converter is a highly effective solution for treating rusted iron and steel surfaces. It works by chemically converting rust into a stable compound that can be safely painted over, preventing further corrosion. Initially applied as a milky/white liquid, it turns navy/black upon curing, providing a clear visual indication of its effectiveness.
Application
The product is designed for use on iron and steel surfaces where complete rust removal is not feasible. Before application, ensure the surface is clean, free of dirt, dust, and loose rust. Light to medium rust should be treated with a wire brush or power tools to remove loose material. For optimal results, apply with a brush or roller, and ensure the surface is slightly damp if applying on warmer days. It is essential to decant the required amount into a separate container, avoiding contamination of the original product.
- Apply when the temperature is above 5°C and humidity levels are between 40% and 90%.
- Do not thin the product; apply as is for the best results.
- Overcoating is possible after 8 hours if using water-based paints or after 24 hours for other types of paint.
Recommended Use
This rust converter is ideal for use in industrial or professional settings where rust is prevalent, and complete removal is not possible. It is perfect for maintaining structural integrity and extending the life of iron and steel components. The product is compatible with Coo-Var Zinc Phosphate Primer as a subsequent coat, enhancing its protective properties.
Limitations
This product should not be used on surfaces other than iron and steel. It is not suitable for consumer use and should only be applied by professionals in well-ventilated areas or outdoors. Do not apply at temperatures below 5°C or above 90% humidity, as this can affect performance. Always use protective clothing, gloves, and eye protection during application, and refer to the safety data sheet for comprehensive guidance.
Health and Safety
The product is classified as non-hazardous under current EU regulations but contains 2-Butoxyethanol, which may cause irritation on prolonged contact with skin. Use in well-ventilated areas to avoid inhaling vapours. It is non-flammable with a flash point of N/A°C and is not classified as a marine pollutant. For disposal, follow local regulations to prevent environmental contamination. Always refer to the safety data sheet for detailed information and handling instructions.

Questions
Question about the product
Steven on 2024-07-05 18:23:07 | Question:
Can you use two pac filler over the converter before paint |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
The manufacturer hasn't tested a 2 pack filler over this product prior to painting, therefore would suggest applying to a small test area firstly, to check for compatibility, adhesion and no reactions prior to fully coating.
Jen raynor on 2024-04-13 08:18:21 | Question:
Can this have concrete put over once dried? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes, assuming the surface is thoroughly prepared as detailed in the techncial datasheet, and this product applied and allowed to cure sufficiently, it will allow for overcoating with concrete.
Thomas on 2024-01-08 14:11:00 | Question:
What is the maximum service temperature of the Teamac rust converter? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This product is not designed to be applied on direct heat or direct sunlight, the ideal application temperature range is between 10C and 30C.
