Kolorbond Aquatek is a water-based, single-pack coating that offers a durable solution for both interior and exterior applications. Its formulation is based on high-performance polyurethane/acrylic resins, providing long-lasting protection and a professional satin finish. Available in 4,900+ colours, Aquatek is perfect for refurbishing or coating a variety of surfaces, including PVCu, polyester powder coatings, GRP, and primed wood.
Surface Preparation and Application
For optimal results, surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from contaminants. For new PVCu, thorough cleaning with Windowprep and light abrasion is recommended, while refurbishment projects should include additional cleaning with Vinylkleen. Application is straightforward with spray guns, but the product also allows effective brush application. Always ensure adequate drying between coats for a smooth, professional finish.
Performance and Durability
Tested to BS EN ISO4892-3: 2006, this product has passed accelerated weathering tests, proving its resistance to harsh exterior conditions. It remains flexible, preventing cracking even when applied to substrates that may bend. The coating offers exceptional scratch resistance, making it ideal for high-traffic areas and extended use. However, avoid using this product in conditions of low temperature or high humidity, as it can negatively affect adhesion and finish quality.
- Dust dry in 15-20 minutes.
- Hard dry after 24 hours.
- Full adhesion and hardness achieved in 7 days.
Application Recommendations
This product is compatible with Technispray/Kolorbond products. Always avoid over-brushing and thinning with more than 5% water. For industrial use, force drying at 50°C can be employed to speed up the curing process. Refer to the downloadable data sheet for further details and recommendations.
Restrictions and Limitations
It is essential to avoid applying the coating in temperatures below 10°C or in high-humidity environments, as these conditions will impair drying and adhesion. The product should not be used on surfaces that are contaminated with grease, dirt, or other residues without proper cleaning. Additionally, do not apply in conditions where the temperature could drop, as this may impact the performance of the coating.
Health and Safety
The product is classified as a low-hazard material but may cause skin or eye irritation. Avoid prolonged exposure and use personal protective equipment where required. Care should be taken to avoid inhaling fumes during application. For transport, it is not classified as hazardous. Always refer to the MSDS for detailed safety information.

Questions
Question about the product
Nick on 2024-10-15 19:18:03 | Question:
Would this be any good to spray laminated kitchen cupboards and doors? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the surface is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical datsheet, you could consider this product. If spraying apply 2 coats allowing for the first to dry to touch before application of the second coat. This is available in your choice of 4900+ RAL, BS & NCS Colours to a Smooth or Textured finish. This product can be applied at the supplied viscosity, and can be thinned by 5% clean water if required. To ensure the substrate is prepared thoroughly, you could purchase Kolorbond UPVC Painting Kits, this comes with the Aquatek paint + preparatory equipment to ensure the cabinets are thoroughly prepared to give 10 year adhesion and 5 year colour fastness guarantee.
Bill on 2024-07-23 08:03:16 | Question:
Hi Can this be sprayed using a graco.ff 108 spray tip F |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This product can be spray applied by Graco airless systems, however the manufacturer has advised using the ff108 tip gives a relatively narrow spray when applying to fascia boards and window profiles. Should a larger area be sprayed, a tip with a wider fan would be recommended in this instance.
Scott Macbeth on 2023-11-03 22:56:35 | Question:
Can this product be applied onto doors with mini rollers |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the doors are bare upvc, they are clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet this could be used. This can be mixed to many RAL, NCS or BS colours in a satin finish. This is also availble in the Kolorbond UPVC painting kits which also contain the required preparatory materials.
Rob on 2023-08-28 21:30:28 | Question:
Can I use this on UPVC that has already been painted? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the existing UPVC coating is clean, dry, sound, and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet this product can be used. We would recommend to test on a small area for compatibility and adhesion prior to full application. This product is also available in a pack complete with the necessary prepatory materials Kolorbond UPVC Painting Kits
Peter Bushell on 2023-02-06 16:29:17 | Question:
Hello, can the UPVC paint be applied in colder weather conditions? Many thanks Pete |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Unfortunately for application of this product the temperature for application and curing must be over 10°C. While the solvent based spray application only Kolorbond Original can be applied at 8°C it must also be over this for curing. Care must be taken to ensure moisture does not form on the service while curing.
Gavin on 2022-08-16 15:29:12 | Question:
Hi - can you supply this product in Valspar colours (X105R200B) or hex #62778A or RGB 98,119,138 Thanks |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Unfortunately no, but it can be mixed to many RAL, NCS or BS colours with a satin finish.
David Wilson on 2022-08-04 14:17:55 | Question:
Can this paint be used on fin lock gutters, please? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming you are looking to paint the outside of the fin lock gutters, they are upvc, clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet yes. We also stock this product as part of a kit, including the required preparation materials.
Elizabeth on 2022-05-18 19:23:45 | Question:
Do I need to use a primer underneath the paint? It’s an untreated pvcu door. Thank you. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
No, a primer is not required when this is applied to clean, dry, sound and prepared UPVC. The two preparatory cleaners must be used prior to application. We do sell these products in a kit with the Aquatek.
Ruth Savagar on 2022-05-09 09:35:52 | Question:
Can this paint be applied normally with a brush? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes this product can be applied by brush or spray application directly. For roller application you must add up to 20% Technispray KolorFlow to the paint. KolorFlow slows the drying of the paint, so can also be used to keep a wet edge when brushing or to prevent the paint from drying too fast on a hot day.
Paul on 2022-04-06 16:43:38 | Question:
Hi I see this is a water base product what are the advantages over a solent base UPVC Paint ? also is it sprayable ? thanks |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes this is also sprayable, the advantages for this product over Technispray Kolorbond Original is that it can be applied by brush or roller as well as spray application. It is also lower odour.
Hayley Lee on 2021-10-22 17:23:25 | Question:
Will this work on PVC panels? And can I order some sample colours please? Kind regards Hayley |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This is suitable for application on to PVC in most forms be it panels or window frames etc - the recommended cleaners would need to be used to ensure adhesion of the product and that a warranty could be offered. We don't offer samples I'm afraid so you could either order the smallest size available in the product in the colours you are interested in or alternatively look at a RAL or BS colour chart to aid in choosing your desired colour.
nigel on 2021-09-08 21:18:25 | Question:

Chris Harrison on 2021-08-03 10:50:26 | Question:
Spec states Aquatek can be used on wood. If spraying previously painted exterior wooden cladding, do I simply need to use the vinylkleen and window prep as usual? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Technispray Kolorbond Aquatek can be applied to primed or previously painted timber once it has been cleaned with Technispray Vinylkleen and lightly abraded making sure any loose and flaking paint is removed.
James on 2021-06-27 22:39:59 | Question:
