Application and Performance

Questions
Question about the product
Bernice Addis on 2024-08-03 18:35:58 | Question:
Can you use this to restore faded powder coated metal railings? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the metal railings are clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet it could be used. If the railings are internal this product can be applied directly, 2 coats are recommended. For external prepared powder coated railings, we'd recommend a first coat of Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 prior to 2 coats of Zinsser AllCoat Exterior Water-Based, in your choice of Satin, Matt or Gloss finish mixed to 4400+ RAL, BS or NCS Colours of choice.
Chris on 2024-06-07 23:47:02 | Question:
Hi I have an exterior wall in lime plaster and the rest in plasterboard or modern plaster. Can this be used on lime plaster? Does it breathe? And can it be used on the rest of the walls? And it doesn't need to be primed? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
No, this product isn't suitable for external applciation, only for internal lime plaster. Assuming the external wall is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the techncial datasheet, Zinsser AllWeather Exterior Masonry Paint could be applied to the external lime plaster, plaster and render, to provide shower resistance in as little as 20mins, whilst allowing the substrate to remain breathable. This is available mixed to many RAL, BS & NCS Colours, with two coats required to achieve the intended finish.
Pat Durbin on 2023-12-03 23:03:31 | Question:
Is it vinyl? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
No this product isn't vinyl based. Assuming your question is in relation to the coating itself, it is a solvent-based breathable all in one primer, sealer and finish coat paint. This can be applied to many suitably prepared subtatrates including walls, ceilings, stucco, plaster, concrete and mortar, however it isn't recommended for use on a vinyl substrate. If you e-mail [email protected] with your requirements we maybe able to recommend an alternative product.
Karen on 2022-07-04 10:11:17 | Question:
I have an interior wall in a 1890's property which has recently been treated for rising damp. The problem area was treated, then covered in tanking slurry and then replastered. Can I use this product over the top of the new plaster? Is it non-vinyl? Many thanks for your help. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This paint can be applied to clean, dry, sound bare plaster. The Grade 1 product is excellent for application to surfaces with PH ratings up to 12.5 such as lime plaster.
AnSa on 2021-10-18 16:03:18 | Question:
does the coverage include two coats? or one is required? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
2 coats are recommended and the coverage per coat is 10m² per litre.
Rachel Goodall on 2019-07-08 22:48:28 | Question:
Can I use this as a primer over distemper remnants on plaster coving and then over paint using Farrow & Ball estate emulsion for the top coat? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Zinsser AllCoat (Solvent-Based) and Zinsser Grade 1 will cope well with the distemper, however if you intend to over paint the Zinsser AllCoat (Solvent Based) would be the preferred choice instead of Grade 1 as this would be chosen if it was to be left as a finish and not overcoated.
Joe O'Donnell on 2019-06-20 21:55:06 | Question:
Do you do colour chats/ samples of your colours |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Samples aren't available in this product but if you contact our sales team with your address we can post a colour chart to you to show the RAL colours available.
Dee on 2018-04-16 13:24:57 | Question:
I would like to use this paint in a green colour on your colour chart eg 12c33 or RAL6019. Would u tint this paint if I bought a Matt white? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
We tint Zinsser Grade 1 to most RAL, BS and NCS colours. When viewing the product click 'Select a different colour' on the right hand side under the price and you can choose and purchase the colour you want here.
