Questions
Question about the product
Kevin on 2024-09-11 10:07:58 | Question:
How long do I need to leave between 1st and 2nd coats when applying by brush/roller |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This product is for application by brush or trowel, Sika do not mentioned a drying time between coats as the moisture content of the substrate, humidity and temperatures can affect this. But it is recommended to wait till the first coat is dry prior to application of the second coat.
David Cooke on 2024-01-05 10:46:13 | Question:
Can we create the floor to wall 45 degree fillets out of this, made up as a thick mortar, prior to applying as a slurry? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Unfortunately, Sikalastic 1K is not suitable to create a 45 angle on a floor wall junction. To achieve this, we would advise applying Sika MonoTop 4012 and then apply Sikalastic 1K to seal all areas as required.
Jason Treviss on 2022-03-17 19:50:56 | Question:
Can Sikalastic 1k be painted over with a good quality masonry paint . Would it require a primer or is it just not suitable . |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This can be over painted, if a solvent based paint is to be applied on Sikalastic®-1K, carry out preliminary testing in order to ensure the solvents do not attack and damage the waterproofing layer.
Joe on 2019-11-25 09:43:56 | Question:
Can you plaster on top of this product? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
You can, although we wouldn't advise it. Sikalastic 1k is polymer modified and flexible, plaster is fairly rigid, this may cause cracking in the plaster if movement occurs.
Jonathan Brown on 2019-10-25 13:54:57 | Question:
Can you put this product down on a plywood surface, and does the plywood need to be primed and if so what do you recommend. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes Sikalastic 1K can be applied to plywood - download the product data sheet from the 'Attachments' tab on the product page for more details.
Colin mackintosh on 2016-03-13 22:40:06 | Question:
When applying Sikalastic 1K by brush what type is recommended? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
We recommend using a good quality Block Brush.
