Application and Usage
Preparation is key for the best results. Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from contamination. Remove any existing mould or mildew and treat surfaces with a fungicidal solution if necessary. For glossy surfaces, abrade the area before application. Always test on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure compatibility.
- Stir thoroughly before use.
- Apply using a brush, roller, or electric paint sprayer. If using a roller, opt for a short to medium nap mohair roller. For spraying, dilute the paint with water by 10-20% as needed.
- Two coats are recommended for optimal coverage and durability.
- Application temperature should be between 10°C - 25°C. Do not apply in direct sunlight or if rain is imminent.
- Not suitable for roof areas, surfaces where water pools, or vinyl wrapped doors.
Cleanup and Storage
After application, remove as much product as possible from application equipment before washing with water. Do not dispose of into drains or water courses. Some local authorities offer special facilities for the disposal of waste paint. Store the paint in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and tightly seal the container after use. The product has a shelf life of 2 years from the date of manufacture when unopened.

Rust-Oleum uPVC Paint is water-based and virtually odourless, making it safer to use. However, it is essential to follow safety guidelines:

Questions
Question about the product
Rita on 2024-08-26 09:30:48 | Question:
Hi there, we had our front door replaced by Anglia about 10 years ago. Unfortunately the paint came off in most places within a few years. We intend to paint all over it, just wondering whether your pain would be suitable. Also, we're not sure about the correct red shade, I guess that for a better finish we should opt for a darker red such burgundy? Thanks Rita |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the UPVC is clean, dry, sound, lightly abraded, any loose and flaking material is removed and any remaining original paint is to be sanded and feathered in, you could consider this product. 2 full coats are recommended to achieve the desired outcome. Available in a choice of 110 colours created by Rust-Oleum. We'd recommend applying to a small test area firstly to check for compatibility and adhesion with any existing coating, prior to full application.
sharon on 2024-04-05 11:26:52 | Question:
I have a white UPVC / composite front door (not previously painted). It's in a coastal location and is south-facing so is becoming a little yellowed. I am planning to paint it white (probably 'Chalk White'). What type of cleaner should I use to prepare the surface for successful painting? (Sugar soap, UPVC cleaner? etc?) Thanks |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the surface is clean, dry, sound, lightly abraded and free from contamination, with any mould and mildew treated and removed, we'd recommend surfaces to be treated with a proprietary cleaning solution prior to applciation, such as Rust-Oleum Pre-Paint Cleaner.
Yvonne on 2023-11-04 09:29:38 | Question:
I have some left over UPVC paint and love the colour. Can I use it on an external wooden door. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the wood is suitably primed prior to applciation, this product may be applied with 2 coats recommended, similar to UPVC application. We'd recommend Zinsser Cover Stain as a Primer for Hardwood, or Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 for Softwood to prime and seal the timber prior to application.
