A pre-coloured decorative overcoating render and dash receiver that provides a breathable, weatherproof and decorative finish for masonry, concrete or rendered masonry substrates.
- Can also be used with the PAREXTHERM and PAREXDIRECT render systems
- The system also provides an effective additional weatherproof coat over an existing render and can avoid the addition of an extra levelling coat when dealing with surface imperfections not exceeding 3-4mm
- For professional use

Suitability
Suitable for:
- Masonry and walls constructed from the following:
- Top coat finish for the PAREXTHERM MARBRI external wall insulation systems and the PAREXDIRECT MARBRI render systems
- Ultra-lightweight, lightweight & dense aggregate concrete blocks
- Clay blocks e.g. Porotherm*
- Standard low and normal density lightweight concrete blocks
- Breeze blocks (clinker)
- Stone/rubble stone
- Shuttered concrete
- Expanded clay insulation blocks
- Clean, sound, well adhered existing render. Base coats conforming to BS EN 13914-1
- PAREX grey weather resistant base coats, e.g. MONOGRIS E, PARMUREX.*Consult manufacturer’s data sheets
- As an over dashing coat to existing dashed render substrates
- Insulated concrete formwork systems (ICF)(1)
- External & internal applications
- Can be applied to exposed locations such as external walls, parapet walls, balconies etc
- Unsuitable for:
- Parilien, Parlumiere Clair and all hydraulic renders with a hardened density below 16 kg/kgm3. This generally applies to lime based renders which a cement based material such as MAITE-D should not be applied to
(1) ICF is generally made from moulded /extruded EPS which has a shiny surface finish not suitable for receiving a render finish. Before applying the render, make sure the ICF receives a light sanding to create a roughened bonding surface
Preparation
- Substrates must be clean, sound, dust free and free of any material which may prevent adhesion. Remove all traces of plaster, paint, etc
- Construction of the masonry must comply with BS 8000-3
- On low suction e.g. concrete or high suction e.g. Lightweight aircrete or clay blockwork, first apply a coat of ready-to use MICRO GOBETIS 3000
- On wet or wet patchy substrates or where different materials have been used it is advisable to apply a key coat made up by adding 0.5L of 751 LANKOLATEX to the mixing volume for a 25kg bag of MAITE-D. Allow the key coat to fully dry a minimum of 48 hours before the application of the next coat. This suggestion will assist against the effect of ‘block ghosting’, lime blooming and shade variation
- TV10 MESH or 355 AVU MESH may also be required, dependent upon substrate condition and project specification
Application
- Refer to and comply with the Substrate Preparation first
- For high exposure or coastal zones please contact Parex for additional guidance as the render thickness may need to be increased and additional surface treatment may be recommended. Ensure the product is mixed correctly with the correct water content and do not allow the render to cure too quickly as surface holes in the render could occur
For Weatherproofing Applications To Concrete Blocks, Clay Blocks, Lightweight Aircrete Blocks, Bricks, Etc.
Float Finish:
- Spread and level MAITE-D on the flat substrate, 6 mm deep using a notched plastering trowel no.5. Smooth off level with a steel float. Ensure to check on mesh requirements
Overcoating To Receive A Dash:
- Spread and level MAITE-D using a stainless steel trowel to a nominal thickness of 8mm leaving a flat finish
- Immediately cover the MAITE-D with MARBRI DASH chippings using an appropriate spray applicator in one application using a backwards and forwards movement or by hand using a traditional hand thrown technique
For Decorating Waterproof Concrete And Masonry Substrates i.e. Covered With An Existing Sound And Weatherproof Render
Float Finish:
- Spread and level MAITE-D on the flat substrate, 4mm deep using a notched plastering trowel no.5. Smooth off with a steel float. Ensure to check on mesh requirements.
Overcoating To Receive A Dash:
- Spread and level MAITE-D using stainless steel trowel to a nominal thickness of 6mm leaving a flat finish. Ensure to check on mesh requirements
- Dash: Immediately cover the MAITE-D with MARBRI DASH chippings using an appropriate spray applicator in one application using a backwards and forwards movement or by hand using a traditional hand thrown technique
Coverage and Consumption Rates

Important Considerations
- Product intended for professional use
- It is advisable when completing the different finishes, to take into account the hardening time, which will vary according to climatic conditions
- Avoid applications on substrates exposed to direct sun or in hot drying winds
- Do not apply on over heated substrates. In hot condition dampen the substrate prior to application. Dampen the render after application
- Do not apply to a frozen substrate or on thawing substrates. Do not use in freezing conditions. Take precautions during damp climatic conditions. Discolouration could occur)
- Do not apply on very wet substrates or where there are wet patches. (Discolouration could occur)
- Minimum application temperatures: 5°C for light colours, 8°C for dark colours
- Over 30°C, special precautions must be taken
- In order to reduce the risk of colour differences after drying, always use the same batch number for the same façade
- In order to avoid the risks of correcting and to facilitate application of the dash chippings, it is advisable to divide the surfaces to be covered into panels of 15 to 20m² maximum
- Avoid creating straight line joints in the finish by blending the chippings across the panels as you progress. Avoid allowing the receiver coat to form an initial cure or surface crust, as the chippings will not stick
- To avoid possible changes of shade, complete whole wall areas in one single application and continuously mix the MARBRI DASH bags in quantities of 3 to 4 bags, adding successive new bags before applying to create an even spread of dash colour
