Features & Benefits

  • Reduces application cost
  • Improves productivity
  • Increases time to first maintenance

Reduces your application cost

Pilot ACR requires no mixing and has no pot life restrictions, which reduce time spent on preparation, waste, spillage and leftovers

Quick drying time enables you to use, move or store your painted object shortly after painting

Improves your productivity

Both quick drying and the possibility to save one coat, mean more output than what is obtainable with conventional, thin film acrylics or alkyds

Tested to perform well and cure fast even at minus 15˚C. In cold climates this means there is no limitation to the painting season, and you can reduce heating costs.

Reduces your maintenance cost

Time to first maintenance is increased as Pilot ACR offers very good gloss retention and can be used as a C3 system when overcoated by itself (acc. ISO 12944)

Direct-to-metal (DTM)

Can be used as a one-coat DTM product in atmospheric corrosivity category C2.

Can also be used as a two-coat DTM product in atmospheric corrosivity category C3 (acc. ISO 12944).

Primers

Pilot ACR will form a long lasting corrosion protection system together with primers like Penguard, Jotamastic or one-component acrylic primers for a wide range of purposes.

questions Renee van der Laan  on 2023-09-06 14:28:48
Question:

I want to paint my nsrrowboat. The Hull is steel, so I can't see a problem there. However, the cabin is made from fibreglass, currently painted with an enamel paint. Would I be able to use Jotun ACR paint here? Thanks, Renee van der Laan

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Yes assuming the previously painted fibreglass cabin is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet this could be used.

We would recommend to test on a small area for compatibility and adhesion prior to full application.

However, applying this product would then result in having to recoat with Jotun Pilot ACR or a similar acrylic topcoat in future, as you'd be unable to revert back to an alkyd enamel.

If you are also looking to paint the hull assuming it is bare, prepared steel Jotun Jotamastic 90 can be used followed by Jotun Hardtop XP.

This would be suitable for above and below the waterline.

This is available mixed to many RAL, BS or NCS colours in a gloss finish.

Question:

Hi Please could you tell me if this product would be ok to use on old cast iron? Thanks

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Assuming the cast iron is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet this can be used.

We would recommend blasting to SA2.5 prior to application.
