Mixing
- Pour 100% contents of PART B into the PART A tin and thoroughly mix by mechanical means (a paddle on the end of a drill) for 90 seconds, or until a uniform colour and texture is achieved and the curing agent has fully dispersed
- Be advised: Mixing too fast will cause trapped air in the mixture, avoid this where possible
- Please note that after mixing both components, 100% of the material must be used in a single application and cannot be stored for later use as chemical curing will occur
Surface Preparation
- Ensure that the surface is clean and free from dust, oil and other contaminants
- Defective concrete should be made good using a repair mortar such as Resin Technologies All In One Repair Mortar
- A relevant Primer should be used such as Resin Technologies All Purpose Primer
- Suitable mechanical treatment, such as using a surface grinder, is the preferred treatment prior to application, as this ensures a mechanical “key” for the coating
- If this is not possible, then using a chemical etcher is a potential alternative
- For additional substrates such as Wood please contact our Technical Department on 0113 2455450 (option 2) or send a message to [email protected] for advice
Application
- For coin preparation, ensure you have a smooth and level starting surface
- Using a high strength flooring adhesive, proceed to glue your coins down in a desired pattern/layout
- Once the adhesive has fully dried, clean the coins with a high strength cleaner
- Use grout and a squeegee to cover all the pennies and push the grout into the gaps between the coins
- Clear off the excess and leave to dry
- Once the surface has fully dried you are ready to apply your Penny Floor Epoxy Paint
- The mixed unit of Resin Technologies Penny Floor Paint must be applied immediately and with a consistent, thorough coating method
- Apply with a suitable roller, whilst a second pair of hands cuts in the edges of the space
- Flat areas should be cross-rolled ensuring an even and smooth finish throughout
- Move down the floor and repeat the process until complete
- If coating a large area, you may require multiple work-persons
- The 2nd coat of Resin Technologies Penny Floor Paint should be applied no longer than 24 hours after the first coat of paint has cured
- Please note the pot life for this product is 20 minutes, the paint will be unworkable due to chemical curing after this time, ensure you remove the paint from the tin during this window
- The paint will be workable on your floor for 40 minutes
- For more information please see the Data Sheets in the 'Data Sheets' tab, or please contact our Technical Department on 0113 2455450 (option 2) or send a message to [email protected]
