Silancolor Cleaner Plus is a water-based product used to treat deteriorated surface by algae and mould before painting with Silancolor Plus protection system.

Silancolor Cleaner Plus forms the basis of the Silancolor Plus protection system for façades, and has a deep-down cleansing action which removes algae and mould from surfaces damaged by such microorganisms.

As a water-based, solvent-free product, Silancolor Cleaner Plus is suitable for application in closed or poorly ventilated areas between +5°C and +35°C.

Features & Benefits

• Silancolor Cleaner Plus, together with the finishing system from the Silancolor Plus range, forms a highly-efficient protective cycle for the surface of walls towards the formation of algae and mould, even if they are already present on the wall
• Penetrates into substrates and carries out a deep-down hygienising treatment of areas damaged by the action of mould and mildew
• Odourless and does not contain solvents, which makes it suitable for applications in closed or poorly ventilated areas

Preparation of the substrate

New surfaces or surfaces which have been patched with repair mortar must be well cured, perfectly clean, sound and dry. Completely remove all traces of oil or grease from the surface and areas which are not well attached.

Seal any cracks which are present and repair areas which are in poor condition. Seal off the porosity and smooth off any uneven parts in the substrate with mortars and smoothing compounds from the MAPEI Building Products line.

Preparation of the product

Mix well the product before use. Depending on the level of biological damage Silancolor Cleaner Plus may be applied neat or diluted till a ratio of 1:3 with water. Algae, mould and fungi must only be removed while damp, that is, after the surface has been thoroughly cleaned with Silancolor Cleaner Plus.

Apply the product on the entire surface using a low-pressure, manual spray gun or by brush. Let the product penetrate into the surface, and then wait for a few minutes while the cleaning action takes place. Remove excess algae, mould and fungi with a brush. Repeat this operation, and apply Silancolor Cleaner Plus continuously to help it to penetrate deeply.

Protect from rain for at least 8 hours. Silancolor Cleaner Plus does not need to be cleaned from the surface; it is perfectly compatible with the preparation and finishing products from the Silancolor Plus range. Silancolor Primer Plus may then be applied after approximately 12-24 hours, or once the wall has completely dried.

When applying the product, we recommend using protective gloves and goggles and to take the usual precautions for handling chemical products. If the product comes in contact with the eyes or skin, wash immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical attention.

Cleaning

Before it dries, clean Silancolor Cleaner Plus from brushes, rollers and spraying equipment with water.

Consumption

The consumption is heavily influenced by the absorption of the substrate and the amount of algae and mould present on the surface. The average consumption rate is as follows: 0.20-1.0 kg/m² of ready-to-use solution.

Limitations

• Do not use Silancolor Cleaner Plus on metal surfaces
• Do not apply Silancolor Cleaner Plus if the temperature is lower than +5°C or higher than +35°C
• Do not apply Silancolor Cleaner Plus on wet surfaces
• Do not apply Silancolor Cleaner Plus if it is about to rain (protect from driving rain for at least 8 hours)
