Features & Benefits
Ultrabond Eco Tack TX+ is an acrylic adhesive in water dispersion, formulated in a ready to use white viscous liquid, designed to provide a permanently tacky film when dry, which prevents loose lay tiles from moving.
- Installation of the following onto all substrates normally used in the building industry (concrete, cementitious screeds, dry-screeds, asphalt, terrazzo, plywood, etc.) smoothing compounds, existing floor coverings and raised access floor panels:
- Dimensionally stable carpet tiles backed with bitumen/felt, non-woven fabric, PVC, polypropylene and other polymer backings
- Carpet paddings
- Loose lay textile floorings
- Loose lay LVT
- Also suitable for use over underfloor heating systems (surface temperature must not exceed levels prescribed by local regulations)
Recommendations
- Install at recommended temperatures, normally between +15°C and +35°C
- Do not install on damp substrates or on substrates subject to rising damp
- When installing over underfloor heating systems, the heating should be switched off at least 48 hours before and after the installation of the floor covering
- Ultrabond Eco Tack TX+ cannot prevent dimensional changes in floor coverings; in areas subject to excessive temperature variations and in case of not completely dimensionally stable floorings, care should be taken as movement occurring may cause gaping
- Bonds extremely well to the surface. Existing floor finishes can not be restored to their original condition
- If flooring is placed before Ultrabond Eco Tack TX+ is completely dry, the adhesion becomes permanent
- In case Ultrabond Eco Tack TX+ adhesive film becomes less tacky with time due to the presence of dust or for any other reason, the direct application of another layer of adhesive can be carried out
Application
Preparation of the substrate:
- All phases of the installation should comply with the latest editions of the local standards
- The sub-floor must be clean, free from any contaminants and structurally sound
- Any surface additives that may hinder adhesion should be removed
- They should also have an effective damp-proof membrane and be dry enough to receive a bonded floor covering
- The level of humidity must be the one foreseen by the regulation of each country and must never exceed the levels recommended by the manufacturer of the flooring
- On very absorbent substrates, first apply a coat of a suitable Mapei acrylic primer in water dispersion (f.i. Eco Prim T Plus.) before applying Ultrabond Eco Tack TX+
- The surface of raised access panels is usually suitable for the direct use of Ultrabond Eco Tack TX+ (avoid excess adhesive seeping between individual panels)
- In case of very absorbent panel surfaces, the application of a suitable Mapei primer (f.i. Eco Prim T Plus, Eco Prim VG, etc.) is in any case recommended
Acclimatisation:
- Before starting the installation, make sure that the floor covering and the substrate are acclimatized to the recommended temperatures and R.H.
Spreading the adhesive:
- Shake the container thoroughly
- Pour the content into a clean container or directly onto the surface and then apply evenly over the entire area using a roller
- Allow to dry to a transparent tacky film (10-20 minutes onto absorbent substrates)
- Drying times may vary according to sub-floor type and ambient temperature, humidity and airflow
- In any case install the flooring within 12 hours after the adhesive application
Laying the floor:
- Follow the laying instruction supplied by the manufacturer of the flooring material
- Lay the floor in place and then massage over the surface evenly
Cleaning:
- Fresh adhesive can be cleaned off with water
- Once hardened, the dried adhesive can be cleaned off with alcohol or specialist solvent cleaner
