Surface Preparation

Surfaces must be clean, dry, and sound; contaminants such as dirt, dust, grease, wax, oils, soap film, Mould & mildew, bond breakers, curing compounds, and loose, peeling paint must be removed before priming. Surfaces with mildew growth or stains must be cleaned with a bleach solution (two parts water to one part bleach) prior to applying this product. Rinse thoroughly.

Prior to application of APOC 583, repair all cracks, splits or damaged areas using a 3 or 5 course application of APOC 583 and a polyester reinforcement. APOC Incredible Tape may be substituted for repairs as appropriate. Allow repairs to cure 24 - 72 hours (depending on weather and drying conditions) before application of silicone coating.

Asphalt surfaces require a minimum of 0.2mm of continuous dry film for bleedthrough resistance. Asphalt: The age and condition of asphalt will affect bleed through with newly applied and uncleaned asphalt surfaces increasing bleed. Do not heat or thin. Single Ply roofs must be primed using a single ply adhesive primer.

Rusty metal must be cleaned with a wire brush and primed/sealed with a primer. Application of silicone prior to full cure of APOC 583 may result in blisters or peeling.

Application

For exterior use only.

Protective clothing, gloves and eyewear should be used during application of this product. Always apply on a clear, warm sunny day. Apply in morning hours to allow maximum cure time. Application should be completed a minimum of four hours prior to sunset.

Temperatures must be above 10°C (for 24 hours) and rising, but not above 43°C ambient. Apply with a 20mm nap exterior paint roller, brush or professional airless sprayer. Allow to cure a minimum of four hours before applying additional coats of APOC 583. Product fully cures in 24 hours when used as a base coat at 21°C & 50% max relative humidity.

Important: Higher humidity, thicker films, poor air flow and lower temperatures will increase dry times. Base Coat/Primer coverage rate is 4 litres per square metre and 9-12 litres per square metre when used with reinforcements.

Precautions

Product must be kept out of sunlight, protected from the elements and in areas where air flows freely and is not restricted. Shelf life is up to 18 months from date of manufacturer for unopened containers. For maximum shelf life store between 15°C and 26°C. Storage at temperatures outside these conditions or at relative humidity over 65% will reduce shelf life. Storage longer than 6 months may require additional mixing.

Tightly seal container after opening and when not in use. Opened containers should be used within 3 - 5 days after opening. If a skin forms, remove prior to mixing material. Store locked up. Store in a well-ventilated place. When transporting this product, ensure that the lid and openings are tight and unit is secure and upright.

Dispose of contents/ container to authorized hazardous or special waste collection point and in accordance with applicable local/national/regional/international regulations.
