Blue Diamond Anti-slip GRP Stair Treads provide an easy, cost-effective way to increase safety on stairways. The gritted surface provides excellent traction which makes them ideal for use in any environment, indoor or outdoors, and can be applied to concrete, metal or wooden steps and much more. The Anti-Slip GRP Stair Treads are tough and durable making them suitable for use in even the harshest of environments, including frosty and wet areas, as they will not twist, rot or warp.

Application

It is essential that any damage or undulations to the receiving substrate are remedied to ensure the tread will be on a flat, even and damage free surface. If using adhesive, clean the substrate thoroughly to remove any oil, grease, dust or loose particles, making sure the underside of the tread is clean, dry and dust-free too.

Run a 6mm bead of adhesive around the underside perimeter of the tread 25mm in from the edges, cross-hatching 200m apart.

Using hand pressure, bed the tread into position evenly.

The stair treads can be drilled and effectively secured using pozi self-tapping screws. Fixing is generally recommended at approx. 70mm in from the front, 60mm from the back, 50mm from each side and a maximum of 250mm between fixings.

Cleaning

Being a highly durable material, using a stiff brush will normally be sufficient to remove everyday dirt and debris, and for more stubborn dirt, wash with warm water and a mild detergent. A pressure washer on a low-pressure setting can also be used, however, care should be taken to ensure that this does not harm the integrity of the fixings being used, likely to be screws and/or adhesive.

We recommend always testing any cleaning method and liquids on a small inconspicuous section before applying to the full area. Any spills should be cleaned immediately in line with the product data sheets and the company’s own safety procedures.

Please note, yellow treads can become discolored if not cleaned properly. To maintain a clean finish, having a regular cleaning program in place is essential.

Life Expectancy

Blue Diamond Anti-Slip GRP Stair Treads have a design life of 10+ years, however, the life expectancy of any flooring product will be dictated by the nature and volume of the traffic it receives. Factors such as footwear type and material, weight of individual, pedestrian or non-pedestrian traffic, and any contamination such as dirt or grit are all factors that will influence the life term through natural wear and tear of the GRP.
