Coverage
- A 10kg pack will be sufficient to coat an area of 10m² at a rate of 1kg/m²
Surface Preparation
- Asphalt and tarmac surfaces must be clean, dry and free from contaminants
- New asphalt and tarmac must be allowed to ‘weather’ to ensure any excess oils are released
- Mechanical preparation is not normally necessary, however vacuum shot blasting/grit blasting is recommended when the material is being applied to concrete or steel surfaces to provide a mechanical ‘key’
Priming:
- Primer not normally required for Asphalt and Tarmac
- Concrete substrates should be primed with 706 MMA Floor Primer
- Damp concrete surfaces can be primed using 709 MMA Damp Proof Primer – refer to product data sheet for full details
- Steel surfaces can be primed using 707 MMA Metal Primer – refer to product data sheet for full details
Mixing:
- 703 MMA Flexible Anti Slip Coating is supplied as a two pack material consisting of the base component, and the catalyst component
- Incorporate the catalyst component under mechanical stirring and mix for 1-2 minutes
Mixing Ratio:
- (% Catalyst by Weight) = 2
Application
- Apply 703 MMA Flexible Anti Slip Coating using short nap perlon, smooth lambswool rollers or squeegee at a nominal rate of 1-2kg/m²
- On porous or open surfaces a second coat may be required
Cleaning
- Clean equipment with 109 Tool Cleaner immediately after use
Curing
- Light Foot Traffic: 1 hour @ 20°C
- Vehicular Traffic: 2 Hours @ 20°C
- Full chemical resistance: 24 hours @ 20°C

Questions
Question about the product
John Margetts on 2021-06-25 08:59:01 | Question:
Hi, I have a drainage channel 15cm covered with stainless steel grill. In the wet it is very slippery. what do you recommend for a anti slip solution. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the stainless steel grill is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet we can recommend Smartkote Protectakote Clear Primer Treatment followed by Smartkote Protectakote UVR. This is available in clear or a range of colours.
R Thorne on 2019-05-02 09:04:21 | Question:
703 MMA Flexible Anti-Slip Coating Q1: 10L tins. What is the nominal coverage for a tin this size and do you offer other sized tins? Q2: If after a few years there are odd areas requiring recovering, is this OK to do? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
A 10kg pack (the only size available) will be sufficient to coat an area of 10m² at a rate of 1kg/m². Yes, it can be applied over itself for maintenance if required after cleaning and preparation as per the data sheet.
Jeremy on 2018-12-10 17:52:27 | Question:
Hi, do you think it'd be possible to apply 703 MMA Flexible Anti-Slip Coating on filmface plywood ? (you, know, that black type of plywood thats very sturdy and keeps the moisture out) Thank you ! |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
We wouldn't recommend any of our MMA coatings for this substrate, we would instead suggest trying Smartkote Protectakote UVR or Smartkote Safekote. Clean and abrade the surface to provide a key and then test adhesion with direct application. If a primer is required to improve adhesion test Smartkote Protectakote Clear Primer Treatment.
