Used to block the passage of water at construction joints and day-joints in retaining walls which are 200mm wide or thicker. The system can be used in civil engineering applications. It is suitable in high compressive load applications.
- High quality butyl rubber and sodium bentonite - for concrete retaining walls
- Self expanding sealing bar - stops water passing through construction joints within the concrete
- Complete fixing system - 310ml high performance waterstop adhesive
- Adaptable - suitable for all types of poured insitu concrete
- Adhesive system - speeds up installation and eliminates the need for mechanical fixings
- High quality butyl - long shelf life (will not harden when exposed to ambient conditions)
The VX25 Waterstop is a high performance sodium bentonite and butyl rubber. The waterstop bar is 20mm x 25mm x 5m long and sold 6 in a box (30m).
The Visqueen Waterstop Adhesive is a high quality, one component polyurethane adhesive. Upon contact with water, the adhesive can expand up to 450% of its original volume. The product is available separately in a 310ml cartridge - sold 12 per box - and can be used with a caulking/sealant gun. 1 Cartridge covers approximately 8 linear metres.

Storage and Handling
Store in a dry and clean environment in its current packaging. The waterstop adhesive has a maximum 9 months shelf life from production date in its original unopened cartridge.
Preparation
Cast in a channel 20mm wide x 12.5mm deep. Ensure that the cast channel is free from loose friable material and free from contamination such as dust or sand. Ensure the surface and working area is not water logged.
Installation
For both vertical and horizontal applications and to ensure the integrity of the system we recommend using Visqueen Waterstop Adhesive. Apply the adhesive using a sealant/caulking gun along the channel. Optimal fixation is achieved when the full contact area of the waterstop is covered with adhesive. 1 Cartridge covers approximately 8 linear metres.
After application of the adhesive, the waterstop needs to be pressed down, to ensure full contact with the paste underneath and to achieve optimal adhesion.
To ensure a continuous section of the sealing waterstop, an overlap of 50mm to 10mm is applied and the bar ends are firmly pressed together. A minimum concrete coverage of 70mm - 80mm on each side is required.
Once applied, pour concrete over the exposed Visqueen VX25 Waterstop within 2 days.
Usable Temperature Range
It is recommended that Visqueen VX25 Waterstop and other system components should be installed between 5°C to 25°C.
Additional Information
The product must NOT be used in expansion joints.
Do not install during heavy rainfall, as it may result in swelling before the concrete has been poured on the sealing bar. Avoid all contact with water before concrete casting.
Any vertical applications above 1200mm please contact Visqueen technical team.
Good overall chemical resistance, but we advise to be careful with aromatic oils and fuels and strong aromatic solvents. Contact Rawlins Technical on 0113 2455450 (option 2) or send a message to [email protected] for detailed specific information.
