Visqueen IGW Admix is a crystalline waterproofing admixture powder consisting of a blend of specially selected chemicals. The Admix is suitable for CEM I (100% cement content) and CEM II (up to 35% cement replacement) mixes. When combined with ready mix concrete at batching plant, it produces a crystalline reaction which enhances water resistance and durability of the cured concrete. The product is available in a tub consisting of six 4.1 kg soluble bags and used in the ratio of 1:1 i.e. one 4.1kg bag for each 1m³ of concrete.

When used as a combined system in accordance with BS8102, the Type B watertight concrete is used in conjunction with a Type A barrier membrane such as Visqueen Pre Applied Membrane and/or a Type C cavity drain system such as Visqueen V8 and V20 Cavity Drain System.

Storage and Handling

Visqueen IGW Admix should be stored upright, under cover in its original packaging and above 5°C.

The product has a minimum shelf life of 12 months.

Care should be taken when handling the product in line with current manual handling regulations.

Preparation

Concrete containing Visqueen IGW Admix is normally supplied as a ready-mixed concrete. The concrete must have a minimum cement content of 350 kg/m³ and be batched with a maximum 0.45 water/cement ratio.

Installation

Installation must be in accordance with BBA certificate 20/5783. Visqueen IGW Admix is used in the ratio of 1:1 i.e. one 4.1kg bag for each 1m³ of concrete.

Please see below Batch Plant operation recommendations:

1. Central mix operation
• Ready Mix Plant - add the Visqueen IGW Admix soluble bag and contents to water e.g. approximately 2 bags (8.2kg) of admix mixed with 10L of water. Pour the required amount of material into the drum of the ready-mix truck. The aggregate, cement and water should be batched and mixed in the plant in accordance with standard practices (taking into account the quantity of water that has already been placed in the ready-mix truck). Pour the concrete into the truck and mix for at least 5 minutes to ensure even distribution of the admix throughout the concrete.
2. Dry batch operation
• Ready Mix Plant - add the Visqueen IGW Admix in powder form to the drum of the ready-mix truck. Position the truck under the batch plant and add 60% – 70% of the required water along with 140kg – 230kg of aggregate. Mix the materials for 2-3 minutes to ensure the admix is distributed evenly throughout the mix water. Add the balance of materials to the ready-mix truck in accordance with standard batch practices.
3. Pan Mixer
• Precast Batch Plant - add the Visqueen IGW Admix in powder form to the aggregate and sand, then mix thoroughly for 2-3 minutes before adding the cement and water. The total concrete mass should be blended using standard practices.

Note: It is important to obtain a homogeneous mixture of Visqueen IGW Admix with the concrete. Therefore, do not add dry admix powder directly to wet concrete as this may cause clumping and thorough dispersion will not occur.

Usable Temperature Range

It is recommended that Visqueen IGW Admix should not be used below 5°C.
