Visqueen Axiom Guard is a grey, single component liquid damp proof and waterproof membrane. It is supplied in 20kg tins.

The product is not designed as a decorative coating.

The product can be used to achieve one form of waterproofing for Grades 1, 2 and 3 as defined in BS 8102:2022.

Storage and Handling

Visqueen Axiom Guard should be stored upright, undercover and in its original packaging. Store away from any sources of ignition in a well ventilated space at temperatures between 5ºC and 30ºC.

To avoid the risk of spillage, always store and transport in a secure upright position. The unopened product has a minimum shelf life of 12 months.

Care should be taken when handling the product in line with current manual handling regulations.

Use in a well ventilated space away from any sources of ignition. Keep the container closed when not in use.

Preparation

Visqueen Axiom Guard should be applied to substrates that are smooth, clean, dry and free from frost, dust, laitance or loose material. Any surface contamination e.g. oil, paint, mortar snots, fungal growth, etc must be removed. All substrate cracks or surface irregularities must be repaired and filled prior to product application.

No mixing or stirring is required. The product can be used straight from the tin. Apply with a brush or roller. Brushes and rollers are not reusable and must be disposed appropriately after use.

To aid adhesion when the surfaces are challenging, use Visqueen Axiom Primer prior to application.

Installation

Visqueen Axiom Guard can be applied directly from the tin using a brush, or transferred to another suitable container and then applied by roller.

For concrete, brickwork, blockwork, timber and metal substrates apply 2 coats. Apply the first coat at a coverage rate of 0.75kg/m², and the second coat at 0.75kg/m². When used as a 2 coat system, a 20kg tin will cover approximately 13.3m².

Allow a minimum of 6 hours between application of coats.

Good ventilation is required to ensure adequate curing of the coating.

Long periods of exposure to ultraviolet light will reduce the effectiveness of the membrane. The membrane should be covered by a protective layer immediately after installation to prevent damage from following trades, ultraviolet light, etc.

Usable Temperature Range

It is recommended that Visqueen Axiom Guard and associated system components should not be installed below 5ºC.

Where concrete construction joints occur Visqueen IGW Waterstop system should be incorporated.

Where wall ties penetrate the membrane, seal with Visqueen Axiom UniSeal.
