Visqueen Axiom Guard PRO is a high performance, polyurethane liquid-applied membrane.

The product is also suitable for damp proofing applications including concrete floors, flush pointed masonry walls and wet rooms.

The product can be applied to a variety of substrates including those listed above, and wet room tile backing boards.

When used in conjunction with Visqueen Axiom Guard PRO Topcoat, Visqueen Axiom Guard PRO is suitable for waterproofing balconies, terraces, walkways, bund walls, surfaces that are subject to total permanent immersion in water, and some flat roofing applications.

Regarding external fire spread, when tested to DD CEN/TS 1187 : 2012, Test 4, a system comprising12mm calcium silicate board, a coat of Axiom Guard PRO and an overcoat of Axiom Guard PRO Topcoat, achieved a classification of B ROOF (t4) under BS EN 13501-5 : 2005.

Storage and Handling

Visqueen Axiom Guard PRO should be stored upright, undercover and in its original packaging. Store away from any sources of ignition in a well ventilated space at temperatures between 5ºC and 30ºC.

To avoid the risk of spillage, always store and transport in a secure upright position. The unopened product has a minimum shelf life of 12 months.

Use in a well ventilated space away from any sources of ignition. Keep the container closed when not in use.

Care should be taken when handling the product in line with current manual handling regulations.

Preparation

Ensure the substrate is smooth, clean and free from frost, dust, laitance or loose material. The substrate can be dry or damp but not wet. Any surface contamination e.g. oil, paint, mortar snots, fungal growth, etc must be removed. All substrate cracks or surface irregularities must be repaired and filled prior to product application.

Fresh concrete should be cured for minimum 14 days.

Visqueen Axiom Guard PRO typical coverage is approx. 8 - 10m² per 15kg drum (approx. 1.5kg/m² - 1.9kg/m²). Coverage is expressed as a range as it varies depending on substrate condition and porosity.

To avoid excessive consumption on porous substrates, apply a thin layer of Visqueen Axiom Guard PRO to seal the substrate, and allow to dry. Coverage for this sealing layer is approximately 30 - 50m²/drum.

The product is installed using 100mm solvent resistant short nap rollers for detailing areas and a 225mm solvent resistant short nap rollers with an extension handle for the main area. Rollers are not reusable and must be disposed appropriately after use.

Where practical, it is recommended to undertake detailing areas first and follow with the main horizontal and/or vertical areas. Installation

Open the Visqueen Axiom Guard PRO drum and mechanically stir the contents at a slow speed for two minutes to ensure that all components are fully mixed.

Visqueen Axiom Guard PRO can be used straight from the drum. Apply a generous coat (approx. 80% of overall coverage) of Visqueen Axiom Guard PRO onto the substrate. Without delay, embed and dry roller the Visqueen Axiom Guard PRO Matting into the liquid product until the liquid is drawn through, then immediately apply a further coat of liquid product (approx. 20% of overall coverage) ensuring the matting is fully embedded and coated. Avoid any pinholes in the coating or ruckles in the matting. Matting overlaps to be minimum 50mm.

The whole area to be waterproofed must be coated as above to form a continuous seamless membrane.

Membrane surface drying time will be approx. 2 - 8 hours depending on ambient temperature and ventilation, and fully cured in approx. 24 hours. Do not walk on the membrane until fully cured.

Where the membrane is to be left permanently exposed to sunlight, UV resistance must be provided. Apply a coat of Visqueen Axiom Guard PRO Topcoat once the membrane is fully cured and no later than 48 hours after curing. For installation of Visqueen Axiom Guard PRO Topcoat, see separate datasheet.

Where the membrane is to receive pedestrian traffic, in the specific areas where the anti-slip surface is required, apply an additional coat of Visqueen Axiom Guard PRO Topcoat once the previous coatings are fully cured and no later than 48 hours after curing, and whilst the Topcoat is still wet, broadcast kiln dried silica sand into the surface. Usable Temperature Range

Visqueen Axiom Guard PRO should be installed within the following temperature range; ambient temperature and substrate temperature should be minimum 5°C and not exceeding 30°C.
