Comprehensive Asbestos Encapsulation Solution

This high-performance encapsulating coating is specifically designed to seal and protect rigid, sound asbestos surfaces, especially in hard-to-access or concealed areas within buildings. By forming a permanent bond with residual asbestos fibres, it effectively prevents the release of hazardous particles into the atmosphere, making it a critical component in asbestos management strategies.

Versatile Applications

Our coating is suitable for a wide range of applications, including internal wall panels, ceiling panels (both top and underside), rigid internal ducts or pipework, and external wall sheets, fascia, or soffits. Whether you're dealing with interior or exterior surfaces, this product offers reliable protection.

Exceptional Adhesion and Flexibility

Formulated with a unique, highly adhesive resin, this coating is highly plasticised to ensure outstanding flexibility. It accommodates normal building movements without compromising its integrity, ensuring continuous protection over time.

Easy Application Process

The coating is easy to apply using a brush, roller, or low-pressure HVLP spray. For best results, apply two coats: the first coat thinned with water and the second coat applied undiluted. It is essential to ensure surfaces are clean and dry before application, and to avoid applying the product when condensation may form. For difficult-to-reach areas, use an extension arm on the spray unit or roller.

Important Safety Information

Always follow safety guidelines during application. Wear protective clothing, including disposable full-body hooded overalls, plastic shoe covers, plastic gloves, goggles, and a sealed mask with fine dust particle filters. Ensure all surfaces are thoroughly cleaned using a Type H vacuum cleaner or manual wet cleaning process before coating. Proper disposal of used cleaning materials and protective equipment is required.

Cleaning and Maintenance

After application, clean brushes, rollers, and guns with clean water immediately. Unused material should be returned to its original container. Adhering to BS 6150:2019 standards ensures long-term effectiveness and safety of the product.

Health and Safety

Asbestos Encapsulating Coating contains no Diisocyanates. Please refer to the downloadable Safety Data Sheet for complete health and safety information, including UN numbers and handling instructions. Always store the product between 5°C and 30°C.

Question:

Can your asbestos encapsulation paint be used on an asbestos-containing popcorn Artex ceiling?

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

There are two types of Artex popcorn.

Assuming the Artex popcorn is the hard version, this product can be applied.

2 coats will be required to ensure the asbestos is encapsulated.

If the Artex popcorn however is soft, this product wouldn't be suitable for this type of application.

The manufacturer has advised it must be genuine Artex and not an equivalent brand as they are unable to guarantee the end outcome.

Question:

Can you use this on lead paint as lead encapsulation? I can see it’s low VOC so would be ideal

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Yes, this was originally tested on lead prior to then being tested on asbestos, by the manufacturer.

Two coats will be required to ensure it encapsulates the lead correctly.
